![]() "Treat Yo Self"A Poem by VelvetPotato![]() Inspired by how the popular social media "mood" can backfire.![]()
They say, "Treat Yo Self," but my thighs disagree,
You know, on the daily, have baths bubbling, Pizza and cookies, no trouble indulging, Would actually benefit from discipline and scolding. When I was younger, had many goals, A's in chemistry, did as was told, Awoke at six A.M., planned what to wear, Five miles at Track practice, muscles would tear. I was a hard-worker and busy-body, Receptive and interested in subjects they taught me, Challenged overall, because of a dream, Would one day have time with money and esteem. That day has come, and I should be a Queen, But there is plenty of time, and the house isn't clean, A gym membership and I'm far less lean, Space to meditate and I'm just plain mean! I've "treated myself" and become lazy, Sleep ten hours and still awake hazy, Get my groceries like cattle grazing, Bored and relaxed, do nothing crazy. Some personalities get carried away, With too much freedom and time in the day, People like me need structure and cause, To prevent the prevailing Gluttony fog. © 2019 VelvetPotatoReviews
