Words Without ActionA Poem by Vera Ann YapHe told me,
he loved me more times than I could count That he
would always be there Through the
ups and down I was a fool
for believing all those lies I was a fool
to believe, to trust in empty promises For I didn't
feel loved, only unheard and neglected He never
showed affection, unless I begged for scraps No time, no
attention, unless I chased the cracks The memory
of loneliness still haunts me A ghost that
lingers, a heart that still aches But the pain
subsides, now that we're apart For I know I
deserved more, a love that's in my heart I recall the
tears, the sorrow, and the pain But also,
the strength, that emerged like summer rain For I knew
I'd be fine, that I'd rise above For words
without action is nothing at all © 2024 Vera Ann Yap |
