Red

Red

A Poem by VassD
"

Colors aren't always black and white.

"

Red

It’s the color of a heartbeat

The smell of a sunrise

The silken touch of rose petals

The streaks in crying eyes

Red

It’s the taste of apples ripe

The sounds of harmony

The glow of love’s beginning

The flight of birds gone free

Red

It’s the emptiness of heartbreak

The pain of labors lost

The blood-like stain of roses

Just before the frost

Red

It’s the harshness of the anger

The courage of the soul

The peace in not forgetting

The ease of letting go

A poem I wrote last year around Valentine's Day for my poetry class. The prompt was:

Color me red. List fifteen things you can think of when you think of the color RED. Include the sound of red, the feeling of red, and the taste of red.
