The JumpA Story by VascoTHE JUMP I always wanted to jump … but I never could. Once I even tried, daring to go to the exact point where the brave jump; I watched, panicked, convulsed, and finally gave up. I got married; she wanted security, children, and … blah, blah, blah. Frightening! Whatever I gave, would it have been different? She left! Left me! Me! So many obstacles and I managed as best as I could; however, I never forgot about the jump. It was father who told me all about it; I learned of his many attempts and how he finally succeeded. F-a-t-h-e-r! F-a-t-h-e-r! Where are you? Why did you do it? You were so passionate about life. Do I have to believe in you, God? I do believe in you … therefore, I damn you! Mother never wanted to try; she in no way understood why would anyone want to attempt it; and all the more she never understood her man, my father. Mum … she did not even notice; never asked about you. Did you know? She lost her sanity in the battlefield of life, in the chaos of the universe, in the junkyard of earth. Of course, I never forgot about my old challenge … it had been my main nightmare; but as time passed, it became less scary, until it morphed into a sweet brainteaser. Today I have faith in you father, the day of my 35th birthday. I believe! I AM here! Teasing muse, the time has come! One, two, three, yehhhhhhhh- hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I expand my chest, inhale; contract, exhale. I am b-r-e-a-t-h-i-n-g! This is it! There is nothing better. Trust me! Sheer contemplation, purity of life, and it just cost me 20 bucks!
