An Elegy to My Innocence (incomplete)A Poem by varnika
It glittered like gold,
Amidst the crowd. It encaptured their attention, That is now covered in shroud. These words I write, To pay my respect. To one that resided in me, That is now a dead object. Though, love still resides here, Not a bit of insolence. Yet you ripped my heart off, Of its natural innocence. I am now a member of this crowd, Forever weary, forever sceptic. A hole you dug in my heart, And it has grown majestic. Yet, there has come a sailor, His heart is filled with love. He wants to travel these frightening waters, His spirit is pure as a dove.
