Underneath this tempered skin
I can't tell you how it feels
I can only show

In the trenches filled with pain
The scars spin the same old tracks
Played by the needle

Wake me from this dream of love
I'm tempted by your beauty
I fight this feeling

And skin is not thick enough
My heart is shining through it
My soul yearns for more

Now hope is my enemy
While you hide in your castle
And fear is my friend

So I treasure each moment
And I guard all your windows
But you don't need me

Then you ask me how I feel
And I hide from all the words
I can only show
