The Girl With The Purple FlowerA Story by KristahGeeJUst read to see how amazing this is!!!!! jk. I dont care you dont like it. Its a story about a vampire who realize she can still be hurt emotionaly, and meets someone new on the way.
It was a cloudy day in New York City. The sun was barely peeking through the gray clouds. Linda looked out the window and frowned. "More bad weather..." she said. Linda went into her kitchen and started to wash dishes. Her small apartment overlooked the city, a great view, but very cold. Just the way she liked it. When she finished doing the dishes she went to go take a shower. As she was gathering her clothes, she heard footsteps coming towards her door. She went to the door and opened it. It was her sister Emily.
"You know I really hate when you do that right?" Emily said putting her hands on her hips. "Yeah, well you know how paranoid I get" Linda replied. "You’re a vampire for crying out loud, get a grip." Emily walked into the apartment. Linda sighed and fallowed Emily in closing the door behind her. "You’re a vampire too", she said, "Can’t you be quieter?" "And what? Run down the hall in my super-vampire speed? I don’t want to scare our neighbors. It’s so impolite. Besides, I saw that sweet old lady in the hallway. She gave us cookies you know." "Ugh, just be more careful okay." Linda said rolling her eyes. "Cool it sis'," Emily said sitting on their couch," What’s wrong with you anyway?" "You were supposed to be here an hour ago! I'm thirsty, I need to hunt, next time I go first" Linda said starting to get angry. "Come on people are harder to catch nowadays, they actually struggle...its so annoying!" Emily said. "I'm going hunting, I’ll be back in an hour" Linda said grabbing her keys. "Don’t miss curfew sweetie!" Emily teased as Linda walked out the door. It was cold out but Linda didn’t need a jacket, her skin was already cold as ice. Linda had long brown hair and green contacts to disguise her red eyes. Linda loved hunting late at night. She loved the cool air around her when she ran, and the distinct scent of human blood mixed with the smell of moisture in the air. It brought out the vampire in her. Her sister on the other hand, liked the early evening, where she can stare at the sunset from a distance, and hear the sound of police sirens after she killed a victim, that was just Emily. Linda walked towards her favorite place to hunt, in an ally. She stood by the ally entrance and waited for her prey. Just a after a minute of waiting, a man came up to her. "How ya doing?" he said. "Good, how about you?" "Great...so you waiting for someone?" "No, I want to show you something." Linda said getting bored of conversation. "I'm alright with that" Linda led him down the dark ally. She looked around and saw no one. "So what do you want to show me?" The guy asked with a smile. Linda was tired of him talking, so she ripped into his throat. The man screamed but Linda covered his mouth so that he was quiet. The tantalizing blood ran down Linda's throat taming the burning sensation that was unbearable earlier. She heard the man's heart stop beating and let his limp body hit the concrete. She wiped her mouth and straightens the jean skirt she was wearing. Linda sighed, drinking blood always made her depressed. She envied humans, how they age, how they don’t have to hide. She missed that the most, not hiding. Before she was turned she had a great life. She had great parents, loyal friends. She and her sister were amazingly lucky. But, all of that changed. One night in 1978, Emily, 20 at the time, was at the mall with her friends. All the stores where closing but, being stubborn, she didn't want to leave, not yet anyway. Emily wanted to try to stay overnight, just to experience it. She attempted to convince her friends, but all of them declined. She ended up staying there alone overnight. Emily thought that she would brag to her friends in the morning and not get caught by the cops. But, unfortunately for her, a vampire was hunting near by and it could sense she was alone. Without much hesitation, the vampire attacked Emily and almost sucked her dry of blood. The vampire left her there, barely hanging on to life. It took her a day to complete the change. The police found and took her to a morgue, thinking she was dead. Emily woke up and fled. She went to her parents wanting some comfort. But, the intolerable burning in her throat made her lose control. She killed her both of her parents. Emily couldn’t believe what she had done, so she went to her sister. She told Linda what had happened and Linda was mortified. She went to her phone and attempted to call the police. But before she even got near it Emily bit into her, just one bite. Linda fell to the ground and screamed in pain. The venom filled her veins faster than ever. Emily did not want to kill her sister so she stayed back. The next morning, Linda was a vampire. Linda flinched from the memory. She would be frozen at 21 forever. Linda walked out of the ally and went to the nearest piece of woods. She'd rather feed on animals. They don’t taste better but it was worth saving the pain. She smelled the air. Its scent consisted of pine and antelope. She heard a tree branch break and turned around. It was a bear. "Looks like I’m going to have fun tonight." She smiled. The bear growled at her. Before she could even process it her instincts came into play. She lunged for the bear. It fought back, but Linda was stronger than it was. To Linda the bear was an easy kill. She finished it off and let its dead body fall to the ground. She took a deep breath to calm herself. "That was easy" she said to herself. "It looked easy." Linda spun around and growled. Standing in front of her was a man. He had medium-long hair, brown eyes and was tall. "Oh Gosh...please tell me you didn’t see any of that please..." "Don’t worry I’m not human...I’m a vampire, just like you. And yes I saw that...it was quite impressive I might add. Although...you might need a wardrobe change", He said looking at her blood-covered shirt and skirt. "Oh...sorry..." she said looking down at herself also. "Can't you smell me? I don’t even smell a little human" he said," Oh well I guess the animal blood kind of covered the scent..." "You like talking don’t you?" "Well, I guess. I never see anyone that’s my kind, it's really great!" He smiled. Linda kept her straight face. "Well," he continued "My name is Seth." He held out his hand for her to shake it. Linda just nodded. "When where you changed?" She said anxiously. This might be Emily's sire. She thought. "September 6, 1979." he replied with a frown. Seth had had a great life too. He was the top of his class, a big brother to a great little sister, he had straight A's all through middle school and high school, and he had parents that treated like a human being. His best friend’s sister was his girlfriend at the time. Her name was Tammy. She was beautiful. She had light blond hair, emerald green eyes, she was lean, and she had very pale skin. Seth loved her a lot. One night, While in Seth's room. Tammy was talking about vampires, and she told Seth she was a vampire. "I’m a vampire", She said, "and I want to live with you forever." Then as fast as lightning, Tammy bit into Seth's neck and turned him. Seth woke dazed. The sun was shining through his white, cloth curtains slightly burning his skin. The next sound he heard was screaming. He ran to his sister's room to find Tammy bent over her and blood all over the white carpet. His sister had blood coming from two tiny hoes in her neck. Seth screamed. Tammy stood up letting his sister's body go limp. His sister wasn’t breathing. Tammy said "we can be together. Everyone is taken care of. Your parents are dead; I even killed your ex-girlfriend so she wouldn’t bug us. You’re a vampire now, Seth. Nothing can get between us." Seth took one last look at his sister's dead body and killed Tammy. He's never killed a single person since then. He dropped out of collage and moved to a different country. Life was depressing. He eventually went back to school and continued his life. "Oh", Linda said startling Seth. He pushed the memory out of his mind. Linda continued, "Sorry, you probably think I’m a jerk. My name is Linda...again sorry...I just thought you were someone I needed to kill." "Well Linda," He said," Glad I’m not...." "How old are you anyway Seth?" "I’m 54." "No, I mean the age you..." Linda looked hard at the ground. "Died in," he finished. Linda looked up." Yeah", He continued, "it's hard for me to say too...Um well, 21" "Oh...me too." Linda said. "So do you know any other vampires?" he asked. "Just my sister, Emily. I mean I met some before, but I just stick with my sister, that's all. What about you?" "Well as I said before, I hardly see any vampires; I really just hang with humans." "Really...why?" Linda asked laughing. Seth had a straight face on. "Sorry" Linda said quickly. "Well." he said sitting on a nearby rock," Vampires, are just bloodthirsty demons, and I know I’m bashing my own kind, but I don’t want to kill humans. I was human once, and I want to stay as close as that as possible. I haven’t told anybody about me being a vampire...so I have to move around a lot. It's hard but I would rather lose people by natural causes than me killing them. It's just so inhumane. I really didn’t want to become a vampire, I truly didn't...but now that I am I can't change it..." Seth looked down and sighed, "I’m sorry, I barely know you and I’m telling you all of this...I just want to live again, so bad. I want to need to breathe, eat regular food, and have a wife and child." That last part made Linda flinch. She never thought about the fact that she can't have kids...ever. She had been too occupied on surviving, that she it never crossed her mind. "You still can..." Linda whispered... "Still can what? Have kids? Like adoption? No, I can’t...not without turning them and that...I won’t even consider. I will not throw their lives away just to make me happy." He sighed. Linda never met anyone that was this...open. "I'm sorry... It is hard, trust me." Linda said frowning. Seth looked at her and said "It’s cool." "So getting off that subject...how do you, well, feed?" "Off animals of course, like you." Seth said," It's cruel to them but no humans get hurt. That's why when I saw you feeding on an animal; I thought I actually might not be the only sane vampire in the world." "Well..." Linda said, "I don’t exactly feed on only animals." Seth's head popped up "What?" He looked into her eyes. She could see pain and hatred. Then she saw connection...between them. Does he like me? , She thought, no he couldn't. She looked away, but she could feel Seth looking at her. He felt the same thing. Linda cleared her throat. "I mean I don’t just feed on any random person...just the people who deserve it, like drug dealers, criminals..." Linda said, still confused about the connection. "Then why were you feeding on that bear "Seth pointed to the bear's mangled body. "Well, I don’t like feeding on humans particularly. It just makes me depressed. But tonight I was so thirsty. I couldn't stand it, and they where the nearest thing..." Linda said frowning. "Well, at least you don’t like it." Seth said smiling. He stood up and stretched his legs. "So do you have a place to stay or something?" Linda asked. Wow, he's gorgeous, she thought. "No not exactly, I usually just crash at my friend’s house" "Well, you can come stay at our house for a night or two..." Linda smiled warmly. "Are you sure? I mean, I don’t want to be in the way..." "No, it’ll be fine." "Well, what about your sister will she mind?" "Trust me, she won't mind" Linda said. They got in her car and headed to her house. Linda couldn’t believe she'd met Seth. He was inspiring to her. She liked him, a lot. But she didn’t think he'd like her. Just wait till he saw Emily. She was pretty, if not beautiful. Linda sighed. "What’s wrong?" Seth asked. "Nothing...we're here" She said as she pulled up to their assigned parking space. "An apartment?" Seth laughed. "Yeah well, we like to keep a low profile." She mumbled. They walked up to Linda's apartment. Linda opened the door. Emily was watching T.V. "Right on the dot!" Emily said looking up, "And...Who is this?" She looked at Seth and winked. "His name is Seth" Linda said rolling her eyes. "He’s staying here for a little while...be nice" "Oh..." Emily said, "Well, sis' why are you bringing dinner home...it looks like you had a lot." She said looking at her clothes. "She did..." Seth said, "I saw it. It was like art really. And anyway I'm not dinner. I’m a vampire, like you two." "Well then, that’s good to know. I would have bitten you." she said smiling. Seth kept a straight face, which was weird. Guys usually melted when they saw Emily. Seth saw the confusion in Linda's face and changed the subject, "So, where do I sleep?" Linda saw Emily about to say something but she interrupted her. "Um," Linda said, "You’ll sleep on the couch. Emily and I have our own rooms and the sofa turns into a bed and we have extra blankets." "Cool...well I don’t sleep but I’m sure ill be close to it." Seth laughed, "Thanks for letting me stay here Linda. I had fun talking to you in the woods." "The woods!" Emily laughed, "Why on earth were you in the woods?" Linda thought for a second and said, "Well, you know that I really don’t like to feed on humans. I just went to hunt animals." Emily laughed "When did you start hunting animals?" Linda just lost it. She was tired of Emily enjoying killing humans. She wanted her life back." Ever since I knew I could!" Linda said, " I hate this I hate hiding! Why did you have to turn me Emily? " Seth looked at Emily with a look of horror. "You did this to your own sister? How stupid are you?" Emily looked like she was about to cry. She tossed back her short brown hair, trying to keep her cool. She narrowed her gray eyes. "I didn’t want to be alone. And anyway, I didn't have a choice, the thirst...it was overpowering. I couldn’t control it. I’m lucky I didn't kill her, like..." Emily couldn’t talk anymore. But Seth kept pushing. "Like who?" He said in a harsh tone. "My parents! Okay geez...it was all just a big mistake I-" Seth growled, and Emily hissed. "Okay!" Linda interrupted her, "Both of you stop. You barley even know each other! I’m sorry I even said anything. Emily go in your room I'll be there in a minute." Emily followed Linda's orders and walked into her room crying. Seth was frozen. "I’m sorry. I just...I’m sorry to be so insensitive..." he said looking down. Linda sighed. She knew this might happen. "s’okay. Um. I have to go talk to Emily, but you make yourself at home." Linda said smiling. "Thanks." Seth gave a weak smile. Linda walked out of the room. She was grateful she had Seth, a new friend. Hopefully more than a friend later, but a friend is fine for now. Linda smiled and opened Emily's door. She walked into the room and shut it behind her. Emily was on her messy bed with her head in her hands. "Wow..." Emily said, " he's..." "Harsh? Emily he didn't mean to-" "Right, he sounded...right." Emily said looking up at Linda. "You and I both know you lost control, that's not-" "What? Why? If this is about me yelling-". "I can't control myself." Emily interrupted her," The blood drives me mad. Do you know how many people I killed tonight?" Emily said starting to cry again. Linda didn't answer. Emily sighed, calming herself down," I killed 7 people. Seven innocent people." Linda froze. "You where only gone for 2 hours" She whispered. "I’m leaving. You don’t have a future with me here. I'll stay here for the rest of the week..." "It's Saturday" Linda whispered again. "Well I-" "No!" Linda yelled. Seth ran into the room. "What wrong?" He said at the doorway. "No!" Linda ignored him, "Emily you can't leave! Where in this together!" "If I stay...We will die. I will get us into big trouble!" Emily yelled back, "I can't do this. I'm sorry." Linda tried to hold back her tears, but they kept coming. She let out a sob. "Seth", Emily said, " Can you take care of my sister?" "Yeah...I will" Seth said without hesitation. He glanced at Linda, but kept his eyes on Emily... "See," Emily said, "Linda, Seth will take care of you." Linda smiled weakly at Seth. He returned the smile, but she could see the sadness in his eyes. He felt bad for Linda; he knew how horrible it felt to be alone. But now he wouldn't be alone, they would have each other. Linda calmed herself down. "Yeah...um. I'm going to go in the kitchen and...Coffee. Do you guys want coffee?" They both nodded. Linda was out of the room in seconds. "How can you do this to her." Seth said in a low voice, "To your own sister" "I’m doing the right thing. I know in my heart-" "You don’t have a heart. It stopped beating when you were turned" Seth said harshly. Emily flinched. "You’ll take care of her, you love her." Emily said. "You don't know if I do or I don't. You’re no psychic." Seth said looking away from Emily. "I don’t need to be a psychic in order to see that Seth, no one does. The way you look at her...and the way she looks at you..." Emily paused hoping Seth wouldn’t get mad. He stayed calm. "You do...right." she said, " Listen, if I didn't know you loved my sister, I wouldn't trust you to take care of her, put it that way. So you do right?" Seth was quite for a moment then he said, "Yes, I absolutely do. Ever heard of love at first sight? That’s how it felt. Like a connection. She's amazing and I will take care of her I promise. And I-" "Okay slow down lover boy...err vamp." Emily laughed. "Listen, I’m sorry...if you like me. I mean-" Emily laughed, "It’s fine, and I’m a big flirt. Don’t get me wrong, you’re...err nice looking...Umm, so yeah...she's coming with our coffee." "Can we drink coffee?" "We have a coffee machine" "Is that a yes?" "I don’t know" Linda walked into the room with three coffee mugs. "One for you and one for you." she said handing them the cups. "So", Linda said. "What where you two talking about?" "Umm. Nothing. "Emily said. They spent the rest of their night drinking coffee.
The next mooring was well, a regular vampire morning, except...worse. Way worse...Emily had all her stuff ready. She was about to leave when Linda grabbed her arm. "Sis'", she said, "Don’t forget me...and visit if you can okay?" "I will, I promise." Emily said. They hugged each other for a while and then let go. "Shouldn’t you stay until it gets dark?" Seth asked, "You can get seriously hurt." "No, I’m fine. I'll just hang around the apartments." Emily said. "He’s right Emily. You should stay a little while longer." Linda said with a frown. "Its cloudy outside; Ill be alright" "Oh, come on Em-" "I'm thirsty." Emily said with a frown. "Oh..." Linda sighed. "So," Emily hugged Linda again," If you hear a human scream you'll know I’m gone." Emily smiled. Linda and Seth kept a straight face. "Okay..." Emily said, "Bad joke..." After another second Linda laughed, so did Seth. "I love you sis' take care. And thank you Seth...and remember our talk." She smiled. Seth coughed and that made Emily laugh. "Well if you two would both stop leaving me out of the conversation..." Linda said. Emily hugged her for the last time. "I love you. Bye" Emily said and then left. Linda closed the door. "She’s really gone...forever." Linda said to Seth, about to cry again. "Hey, Linda...It's okay. She’ll be fine." Seth said, "You have me!" Linda smiled. She looked at the kitchen counter. "Emily’s phone! I need to give it to her!" She grabbed the cell-phone. She reached for the door handle, but Seth got to it first. "Whoa. If you would've done that, you would have been ashes," he smiled. "So I’ll give it to her, I don't want you to get hurt.". He walked out the door. Linda would have been blushing if she could, Seth made her feel safe. Every time she looked into his eyes, she felt a spark. And it gave her butterflies. Seconds later he was back with the phone in his hand still, and his eyes wide with fear. "What." Linda said, " What is it?" "Your sister...she's..." Seth blinked not able to say anything else. Linda grabbed for the door handle. Seth grabbed her arm still staring ahead." No," He said, "You’ll be burned to death. The suns out." "Then tell me what happened then, Seth." Linda said in a harsh tone. "Your sister got caught." he said quietly. "What!?" She reached for the door again but Seth caught her hand once more. Linda grunted. "The humans..." He said looking at her, "They knew about her, but only her. They knew that she was a vampire, and they want to...kill her." "How do you know they want to kill her?" Linda said, voice shaking. "I heard them say it when I walked out the door. I-I tried to get to her but they drove off. I couldn't go into the sunlight...I would've died." "So were supposed to sit here and just let her die?" she said with so much rage it made Seth flinch. "No. I caught their scent. We could go, but I think we should wait it out its dangerous-" "I'm going right now weather you are or not" she interrupted him," Make a choice Seth." "I'm going. I'll Get the car keys, Get a big sweater and make sure every inch of your skin is covered." Linda nodded and headed to go change. "Oh Linda here." Seth said "Put this on" He threw her some sunscreen.
It didn't take a long time to track their scent. They already were on their tail. "Umm. Before we do this I need to tell you something." Seth said taking a breath. "Yeah..." Linda said. She was in total battle mode. But Seth had to tell her how he felt or he might not be able to. " I wanted to do this under better circumstances...but I might not get another chance." , Seth said getting nervous " Listen, the first day I met you...which was yesterday...and I thought you were completely amazing, I felt a connection," Linda stopped and looked at Seth. "And now," he continued, "I think you’re the best person in the world." Linda flinched when he said person. She hadn’t been called that in a while. "Umm..." Seth continued," I love you Linda, a lot. And I just wanted you to know that." Seth looked away from the road to see her response. Linda smiled and just when she was about to say something they heard a scream. "It’s Emily. She's hurt!" "Okay, let's go." They jumped out of the car. In front of them was a big blue warehouse. "Before we do this" Seth leaned in and kissed Linda. It was short but sweet. Linda pulled away and said "Love you too" Seth kissed her one more time and gave her a purple flower. Linda smiled and put it in her hair. Seth kicked open the doors. Inside was Emily strapped to a chair and humans surrounded her. Five inches away was a large patch of sunlight. Linda stared in horror and accidently let out a hiss. One of the humans heard her and looked at her. It was the old lady that gave them cookies. "There’s no time! Push her in the sunlight quickly!" The woman ordered. Both Emily and Linda screamed at the same time. Emily was in the sunlight burning. Linda Tried to run to Emily but Seth got there first. It was too late. Her sister was now a pile of ashes. Seth stepped away from the sunlight and looked back at Linda. She was crying silently, tears streaming down her face. The humans looked at Seth and Linda. "Kill them." The old lady said to the other mortals in the room. But before they could even touch Seth or Linda, Linda said "I’m so sorry Seth." And ran towards the old woman and snapped her neck. All the humans froze. She took a step back and took a breath. "Seth," she said "What are you going to do to us?" One of the humans asked her. "I’m going to make you all suffer..." Linda said calmly, "By turning you all into vampires...enjoy your new lives" She looked at Seth and he nodded. Then she darted towards them to change their lives forever.
