Irises

Irises

A Poem by Vanessa_Page

The irises are breeding

Bringing slow life
To the damp soil
Tilting their heads
With furtive glances
Strangely aloof
They bear no resemblance
To the season before

Cool in such context
The irises conspire
Long lonely faces
Stained purple and gold
They strain to hear our whispers.
