To Stay a While....

To Stay a While....

A Poem by Vanessa

Sometimes,
More often than not,
I sit and stare at the blend of life
Fixed firmly,
Faultlessly
In the black soil,
Leaving wafts of wavering stillness
That is minerals joined with moisture,
The moisture from the rain
That falls.

It seems rather often,
That I catch myself in awe
When observing the spherical
Atmosphere
That surrounds us silently,
Serving as a shield from the unknown,
The precarious,
And the other-worldly.
It’s almost as if after living
And living,
Day
After day,
Looking into the sky becomes
Like looking at a flat surface.

I can’t help but remind myself
Of the wonder that lies
Behind living within
Such a rotund
And defensive,
And beautiful
Shelter.

In this, I feel lacking.
Why could not I be part of this cycle,
Not part of a race that destroys
And creates where creating is not needed.
Why could not I
Be part of this unity
Between every living thing,
Not left alone
While couples thrive on the company
Of one another.

Until the answer to that
Presents itself
Comprehensible,
I’ll catch myself in admiration
Once more,
Of the life that I should have come about as.
Until I am cohesive
With the sentiment
Of another,
I can simply sulk
And stay a while.

This was amazing! Totally loved it. So spiritual in its love of nature, its just so niceo hear words like this coming from your gen, that gives me something to hang on to, and hope. The past generations (mine included) have made a muck of eveything, keep thinking and feeling like this, and hopefully we will all still have a chance. Thanks for writing this, and for sharing. Your voice needs to be heard, please don't stop writing. The world depends on it.

This is great, it's right on my wavelength of being a part of a cyclical whole.

This is a good poem, i like it a lot... it strikes of emotions and feelings that i think we've all felt. The imagery is really good, but i personally almost felt you overused it in places. I do however think this stanza is awesome:

I can't help but remind myself
Of the wonder that lies
Behind living within
Such a rotund
And defensive,
And beautiful
Shelter.

Very cool. Take care,
Jaff

You speak of a celebration of life.

It rains, things die only to be reborn
in other forms and it rains from a
cloudless sky. Why ?

So that life flourishes.

This looks like a conversation we would have....but a bit more poetic than "Yo niggaaaa" XD haha
Contrary to what you said up there , I believe humans are part of this "cycle." We may be disgusting pieces of s**t but I think our energy when we die contributes to any other form of life.

I know what you mean though. :) Its amazing when you think about how vast the word is let alone considering what makes up something as small as a tea cup....

And....yeah. this sucked you're never going to make it!!!!

This is my favorite of all that you have written. It didn't drift off topic or send me into a wave of boredom; doesn't trail off or leave you hanging there. I love everything about this truely and sincerely. Ilyy!

I love how 'visual' this poem is. I haven't read one like this before, it was incredible, honestly. I could picture everything.
