Born a Tree in a Human BodyA Poem by Vanessa
Hello, I will readily introduce myself as Mislaid,
A dissipater of good clean thoughts,
One who possessed the quality of belief and philosophy
But somehow loses the option when the sun doesn’t shine,
And soon forever.
It’s something I’ve always wanted to keep,
A deep longing for the world’s fruitful gift of chance
And random events that settle us in all different situations.
At a time when toxins rule this mind,
I like to take a step back
And lay about the things that really matter.
The world at its best has always presented itself to me
Through a remarkable place lacking the existence of a relatively young,
Oblivious species
Called human.
It’s the spec of human in me that’s led me to forget what’s real.
In an ideal location on this planet, I could stroll about in silence
And mingle with the trees
And the things produced by a magnificent stretch of ingredients
Called nature.
Everyday things are unbearable in this mindset.
And then…
There are things that experience
And an unhealthy plethora of thoughts
Have led me to believe wholesome
And not poisoned by the desire for power,
But rather are sanctified with the notion and instinct
To coexist.
I wish I had been born a tree.
