Bees

Bees

A Poem by Vanessa

It’s been a while since I’ve closed myself in with such dear friends; pen and paper, though mostly thoughts give way to pain.
Cigarettes and tv sets,
Dirty seats and dew-soaked grass, fallen on my clave-like a*s I know not what I’ve become. My tape recorder’s gone away.

My hope of writing’s back today.
Naked in a fallen tree, waking from some dream of ‘ME’,
I’m sure it isn’t from the drugs
But bees please find me
Surround me in a sea of hugs,
And cover me in lumps
Let me see the way that pain works.
Let me see the place where kites lurk;
High.
When you’ve finished buzz away
Just leave me gifts of pain and sky.

Whatever it takes to feel alive. I'm sure it isn't from the drugs...

Why do we feel numb sometimes? It's just the way it is.

Your portrait of inside landscape is really clear and well written.

Wow.
I'm not sure I'll think of bees the same way again. I'm pondering what I've read. It's beautiful, the imagery and the story, the emotion and the idea.
