The Tragedy That Follows

The Tragedy That Follows

A Poem by Vampyrica1995

I drink and smoke and wreck my car,

Looking for the tragedy that follows,

But through what cruel joke do I remain?

It all started with a question.

“Why do you love me?”

You asked.

“Why does an infant love his mother?

Why does the Earth love the Sun?

Why does anyone love anything?

It just feels right.

It’s not forced,

It’s supposed to be there.

That is why I love you”

Is how I answered.

You seemed so wonderfully happy after that,

I never thought to look behind your smile,

But with every smile,

You were closer to the tragedy that followed.

Soon, you were gone,

You said it was better,

You said you would be happy,

You said I would be fine,

But I am not.

I remember staring at your coffin,

With loving memory,

Just readying myself for the tragedy to follow.

I tried and tried,

But yet still live,

How cruel of God to keep me here,

To keep me here to suffer.

My love,

I wish to see you again,

But my tragedy will not go through,

I hope he will let me go soon,

In a tragedy that follows this

Soon, my love,

Together again.
