This is me

I am tired,

I am tired of being scared of what people think,

I am tired of being expected to do right,

When wrong is so compelling,

I am tired of being frowned upon when I make mistakes,

I am tired of being told to go right,

When I know left is better for me,

I am tired of people deciding my future,

When that's what I get to do,

I am tired of not speaking my mind,

Because it might be different than everyone else,

I am tired of not being myself,

In fear people will not like me.

 

This is who I am,

I am the girl who loves art,

I am the girl who loves to write and read,

I am the girl who loves to dance,

I am the girl who can make you laugh,

I am the girl who can get you to smile,

I am the girl who can be crazy,

I am the girl who can be fun or lazy.

 

This is who I am,

I can't change that,

I can't keep hiding behind lies.

I am me,

no one else.
