Momma, I'll remember you

Momma, I'll remember you

A Poem by Emily Jellybean :)

Dear mom,

I know it's hard to live without you here to guide me
I know it's sometimes hard to breathe
But take a deep breath, and remember how strong our love will always be.

I'll always remember how much you care
I'll always remember how you taught me to love and always share

I'll always remember car rides and walks
I'll always remember all our little talks

I'll always remember how you cooked.
I'll always remember how you looked

I'll always remember that you love me and I love you

I'll never forget that God's need for you in Heaven was stronger than mine on Earth
But I'll always remember you, because to me you gave birth.

Rest in peace momma and get ready
Because I'm coming to see you, only a bit slow and not too steady!

Thank you :)
(OK, now that I am done sobbing profusely.) Emily, this is a very touching poem. My heart aches for you after having read this, your pain and sorrow and love comes though very clearly. You honestly bare your soul as the very best poets do. My favorite professor in school once told me honest poetry says more about the mind and heart of the poet than an autobiography ever could, and that is certainly true here. Your final line “I’m coming to see you, only a bit slow and not too steady.” is the most revealing line in the poem, and the most truly poetic. I look forward to reading more of your work.

ps. and at the risk of making myself blubber up again, I want you to know that your poem made me think of my own mother, whom I am fortunate enough to still have, and has compelled me to cherish her a little more than I did when I woke up this morning, and to just be thankful for the time I have left with her--and any poem that makes people stop and think has accomplished something great and has left its mark on the world.

What a beautiful, heartfelt dedication to your precious mother.. Your words must bring her such joy to know that you'll remember... and not just in your mind looking back, but through the sweetness of your life each day. I miss my mom too...
