The Lovers FeedA Chapter by Ashton GoodnoughThe forest was pitch black. So black that the young girl couldn’t see her own hand in front of her face. She was trying to find her way home, but she was too deep in the wood that it would seem impossible to find her way out again. She knew that her mother would worry if she would not make it home in time for supper. The girl was terrified of the forest at night, he almost broke down in tears. She sat down on a rock and hid her face in her hands, and cried her little eyes out. Calling for help that would never come. She then heard the sound of footsteps coming toward her. Had someone finally found her? She turned to the sound of the steps and saw the fain glow of an oil lamp and a woman dressed in a deep blue and black corset dress that seemed to blend in with the darkness. “Momma?” the young girl called out as the woman stepped closer to her. “I am afraid not, my child.” the woman replied in a soothing and calming voice. “What are you doing out here alone?” she asked. “I got lost.” she answered with a small sniffle. She was almost about to cry again. “Will you help me find my way home?” The woman knelt down beside the girl and wiped a small tear away. “Of course I will, my dear.” the woman’s eyes were a brilliant shade of green as they shined in the lamp light. Her hair was long and pin straight. It was as black as the night sky. The woman place the lamp on the ground and opened her arms so the little girl could hug her. The woman stroked the girl’s short, curly brown hair as she tried to calm her down. “You don’t need to be scared anymore, child.” the woman whispered in her ear. She then broke the embrace and grabbed girl’s arm. The woman lightly traced the veins that were pulsing under the girl’s skin. She could smell her young, fresh blood. “You are safe here.” the woman brought the girl’s wrist to her lips. The girl didn’t say anything until she saw something that caught the light of the lamp. The woman had fangs! The girl was about to scream, but before any sound escaped her lips, someone stood behind her and placed a hand over her mouth. The woman looked up at the person behind the girl. He was a lean and handsome looking man. He wore a casual black suit with a white undershirt and a black overcoat. His hair was also black and straight but it was short. His bangs hanging sexily over his deep red eyes. “I was wondering when you were going to show.” the woman said. “You didn’t think I was going to let you have this little morsel to yourself did you?” the man replied, licking his lips and showing off his own set of fangs. The little girl let out a muffled gasp as the man knelt down beside her. “Be a good girl, and don’t scream.” the man whispered, almost seductively, in the little girl’s ear. She became silent. The woman brought the girl’s arm to her lips once more and sank her fangs into her wrist. The bright red blood ran down her arm and dripped onto the ground. The woman stopped for a moment to savor the blood as she licked it off of her fangs. “You must try this, my love. It is positively divine.” the man smiled as he bore his fangs into the girl’s neck. The blood poured into his mouth as he sucked the sticky-sweet elixir from the girl’s body. Her body went limp and lifeless and they let go of the girl as she fell over, dead. “That was fantastic.” the man said as he wiped the blood off his lips with a handkerchief. “Indeed, my darling Sebastian.” the woman replied picking up the oil lamp and stood up straight. “Children are always the sweetest.” Sebastian extended his hand out to his lover. “Come Alexandria. Let us leave.” Alexandria took his hand and nodded. With a swirl of black smoke around them, they transformed into small, black furred bats. Alexandria dropped the lamp and oil spilled out onto the ground, resulting in the start of a fire in the middle of the wood. The two vampire bats made their escape and flew away to their home.
