Safe and Sound

I knew he would lose. He was still awkward with sword fighting and I cursed myself for letting this happen. I had told the prince that the boy wasn't ready to go to war. Warlock or not, Merlin was not ready. He didn't listen. Well, he probably did and Merlin insisted. I watched Merlin fight, fending off my own enemy.
Merlin was getting tired and his opponent noticed. When Merlins sword flattered and his opponent took his chance and stabbed Merlin. I saw Merlin's face pale and he stumbled before falling. It felt like forever as I watched him fall. My vision blurred and I finished off my enemy, leaving my sword in him as I ran to Merlin's side.
"Merlin! Say something!" I cried. I put my hands on his stomach to stop the blood flow. I knew I couldn't save him, but I had to try.
"L-lily..." He choked out. His eyes were glazed over and his face was pale.
"Merlin!" Prince Arthur saw Merlin laying there and ran over. He glanced at some knights that were near by. "Gwaine! Leon!"
They hurried over and picked up Merlin to take him to a medical tent. I stayed at Merlin's side. We got to the tent and he was placed on a bed. Gaius took one look at his ward's condition and grabbed the necessary supplies. I put my head in my hands and cried as Merlin was being patched up. Gwen put her hand on my shoulder. The knights saw me cry and was entirely worried for Merlin. If the toughest girl in Camelot, who could beat Prince Arthur himself, was crying, it was useless. Gaius' breath hitched and I looked over to Merlin. He was all sewn up, but his face was deathly pale. His chest was not moving and I held my own breath, hoping I was wrong. He didn't breath and I cried harder. He was in a safe place.
I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)
La La (La La)
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La La (La La)

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh. [x7]
