Winter

A Poem by Jean E. Shire
"

A moment in time.

"

You don’t have time for another cigarette,
we’re already late, she said,
she grabs my arms and pulls me to her,
can’t help but smile and think,
I am going to light this cigarette.
Her eyes are impatient, she’s waiting,
this moment, could last forever but
this girl, I could lose her anytime,
never know where she might go, she’s only eighteen,
do you know, I say, you are the most beautiful girl
I have ever seen?
