 You have lost me, and you don’t even know;

You broke my heart and left me out in the cold.

What cruel joke is this-

That nobody knows it but me?

 

Day by day I’ve been puttin’ on a show

Hiding the pain so that nobody knows

Now I’m dyin’ inside

And nobody knows it but me.

 

Why can’t I say the things I need to say?

Why can’t I just leave you today?

I hate you so,

And nobody knows it but me.

 

I remember when I was so wild and free

My heart belonged to none other but me

Now I’m broken inside

And nobody knows it but me.

This is a great poem. Title got my attention. The words told a powerful story. Sometime doors are closed and the person involved will find out when their key don't fit anymore. I like the ending to the outstanding poem.

I love reading poetry that talks about how the pain, or happiness, they are feeling is only inside of them and no one knows about it. Hiding the pain you are feeling makes feeling pain even worse than it already is.

I thought this was really moving. I liked it. I think it would sound better if you took out the "it" in each "And nobody knows it but me," though. I'd also change "My heart belonged to none other but me" to "My heart belonged to no one but me." Just a thought.
