Depths of Wilderness

Depths of Wilderness

A Poem by Valery

A darkened sky sang the prelude to begin the night,
with the wind gushing through every vein,
birds returned home, and the sun seemed far from bright,
lightning flashed, thunder struck, and then came down the rain.

Ice will melt with awe,
at the sight of these drops,
Nature gives no mistake, no flaw,
she lets not a second go in vain; she never stops.

Furious, afraid or ecstatic,
the emotion cannot be judged,
but the trees sway, it is dramatic,
as I watch, wrapped by the sight; I have not budged.

Forever falling rain,
eternally roaring clouds,
you protect me,destroy me, over and over again,
and settle a silence, which drowns the crowd.

Midst these great depths of wilderness,
I stand, a mere speck of life,
She watches, and under her highness,
the world here is trying to keep aloof from strife.
