Falling For YouA Poem by Valerie Hope Woodard26 March 2012As soon as the first strum hits my ear, You’re there, Seemingly swaying along to the music in my memories We’re in the car, Accidentally bumping hands We blush and grin as we turn onto Echols The guitar echoes the tune our complacency plays The lyrics are the very thoughts humming inside of our heads You open the door The warm, late September air greets us affably The moment I step outside, we envelope each other, The radio still playing We smile to ourselves in excitement So in sync, so in tune, Like the harmonies flowing through the speakers “Oh, I’m falling for you,” coos the voice as the song closes “Falling For You, the new one by Colbie Caillat,” announces the DJ My reminiscent reel has been interrupted By a change of pace, the next song has begun Returning to reality, It is nearly three years later And I haven’t spoken to you in months One day, I’ll play this song, And not think of you. Maybe. © 2012 Valerie Hope WoodardAuthor's Note
