Serpents HissA Poem by Valerie Hope Woodard19 November 2010Serpents Hiss I desire isolation from all the complications, but everywhere I go, they follow me.
I desire freedom lock up the memories and leave them, after all that I’ve been through, it’s plain to see
You’re up to something bigger than this and I know even though it doesn’t ever make sense, one day I’ll be recompensed find everything I ever missed and at this revelation serpents hiss.
I require God, Your presence though satan’s stirring reconnaissance, he can never crack Your fortress, Oh Most High
I require Lord, Your spirit I can’t see, but I can feel it even in those times where all I do is cry
You’re building something better than this and I know even if Your plans don’t ever make sense, one day I’ll be recompensed find all the things that I have missed and at my trust in You may serpents hiss.
I know You’re laying my foundation You’re my Rock; You’re my Salvation from Your grace I’ll never try to run
I know in time that I’ll be happy I’ll be smiling; I’ll be laughing but You never said that getting there’d be fun
You’re up to something glorious in this and I know it’s too wonderful to ever make sense, one day I’ll be recompensed give the pain a goodbye kiss in my praising You the serpents hiss. © 2012 Valerie Hope WoodardFeatured Review
