Tapeworm

Tapeworm

A Poem by Valerie Hope Woodard
"

I'm in a writer's workshop course at my school. This was written from a journal prompt one day and I liked how it came out. Feedback welcomed! 2 March 2012

"
You have stayed too long. You parasite, you tapeworm, harbored in my belly to theif away whatever joy I must force feed myself. The spoon tilts; as the nepenthe slinks down my throat, your head comes bobbing up. You suck all of it away before I've felt its effects. I am frail; I am sickly. I am.depressed and resentful of your oppression. The time has come that I must suppress this incessant deprivation. Get out. You are not welcome. You have stayed too long.

I realize it's very short; I started my account from my web browser on my Android and just picked something easy to post so I didn't have a blank page. :)
