"Me"

"Me"

A Poem by Valentine

   "Me"

No one knows, or ever sees.
The inner parts of what is me.
So adapt at covering yesterday...
All that is shown...is today.

No one knows...what is hidden inside,
The locked cells where thought abides.
Whats in the past is never shown;
Buried in black...it remains unknown.

Yet...everdays thoughts...return to mind;
Returning to agonize...with tortures...unkind.

Beautifully sad - I just recently started revealing my inner demons to the people who are closest to me. I have so many closets full of skeletons and regret and they have been haunting me my entire life. The more feelings that i divulge, the lighter i feel. However, I still cry once in a while knowing that those thoughts will remain - just when I think that they have disappeared they sneak back into my soul. They must have just been hiding! This poem reminds me of how I feel. I really, really wish you the best and a peaceful way to put your torture to rest

Everyone has a secret. For good or bad they go towards making us who we are - they can become black holes in us - tearing at the very fabric of 'us' or like the pearl we can cover them with enough covering to make the whole 'comfortable' enough to survive (albeit with difficulty). They are there though - no getting away from them.
A good exploratory piece on the nature of 'getting on with it' while carrying life-time damage.

I think everyone is this way some way or another. Protecting themselves for fear of being known too much. Well done Valentine.

With the whole truth about ones self...often comes bitter consequences. Kathie
No matter how strong we pretend to be, a time will come to break the shield that we call pride. Well done nicely written.

Insight.

we cover don't we - and why - is it to protect ourselves - is it to shield - or is it because others would not understand the depth? Lovely X

Things like parental or spouse abuse are not as easily hidden. Kathie
Yes, this is so true. Thoughts come as floods that no one can hold back.

I thought of my sister when writing this...Kathie
Behind every smile, hides an inner struggle in each of us. That is every bit as complex, and extraordinary as our own. Insightful piece. One, we all can relate to.

Everything about ourselves is a need to know only and we are the ones who control that! If we decide to release some information about ourselves; it will be our choice to do that. We our often reluctant to do that because we know what happens when rumor mongers get hold of something new.
