You sit there...

In your easy chair,

Staring at the space

Inbetween you and I.

 

I see your eyes...

Not fixed upon me;

But on a distant star...

A far off horizon.

 

In awe I wonder..

Do you see me...

Or through my being,

To some far off shore?

 

All that any human needs...

You fully provide...yet,

There you sit staring at...

Something I cannot see.

 

What would it take...

Just what could I give,

To just once feel you gaze

Warmly upon my face?

It is so heartbreaking to feel as if we are a ghost or invisible in a relationship. Too often people grow apart and seem to drift to far off shores. More than once I have said I would rather be despised than live with indifference which slowly drains the life from our souls. Good write.

There comes a point in some relationships where you feel as if the other person no longer see you but sees through you. Its a sad and cold feeling that leaves you wondering whether you really exist. Thats what I got from this poem. Very well written and full of emotion!
