One of the fears of advancing age is that we will eventually, through alzheimers, lose all memory of loved ones. I watched this happen to my own mother, who progressively forgot my sister, my brother and I, and then my father. How devastating a thing it is to live a life, and then not be able to remember any of it? You poem is poignant and very apt in this day and age.
