"Web Weaver"

"Web Weaver"

A Poem by Valentine

  "Web Weaver"

Your web...was woven so well,
Any outsider...could not tell;
What was the way to reach the door,
That so many...had searched for.

You spun your web, interwoven with lies,
Full of half truths and false alibis.
Then you wove your way...deep within,
Where no other...had ever been.

Your web sits shining, in the sun;
A beautiful edifice...now it is done.
But...all is dark glass, on the outside;
What lies inside...where you hide?

There are no windows, and no doors;
No way to see...if inside...there is more.
You have traps woven into the outside;
To stop anyone, from ever reaching...your side.

Now and then...you wander and roam;
Then hurry and hide...within your home.
All hearts stop...when you appear,
The look of an angel...passing near.

You have locked yourself, inside your web,
Stepping out now and then...just to be fed.
You prey on others, and have your fun,
Leaving decaying carcasses, when you are done.

You wove a web...to protect your heart,
To trap outsiders...before love can start.
Hurt once by love, now you just hide,
Inside of your web...where trust has died.

This is an excellent poem. You've expressed the idea so well & with originality. I've lived a great deal of my life kinda like this. I like that the hideout is being called out but not with scorn or judgement, simply described for the reader to decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing. To a more concise writer like myself, this feels a teensy bit repetitive to me, like you're restating similar ideas in multiple ways. It works, but it's just not my preference.

Webs can be beautiful, deadly, useful or foreboding and the same web can mean something different for those who approach the Webmaster.
It's a pity when people use their web-weaving skills to keep everyone away because the weaver is missing out as much as the others from the joy that could be exchanged.

Could I make a suggestion to the line 'leaving decaying carcasses' - I thought 'Dessicated carcasses; when you are done.' would bring the idea of the way spiders eat out more.
Just a thought.

Overall I thought this was a masterful rhyming piece Kathie.

Your welcome Kathie. :)
I guess some people just find it easier to keep things locked inside and push people away. If someone does happen to get inside, they do so at their own risk. Goo poem and goo story, Kathie

There is something cruel about the spider watching its prey slowly die. Human spiders weave a bigger web though.

I feel that the last 4 lines are the heart of this poetry and above all justification of everything that is described...

You wove a web...to protect your heart,
To trap outsiders...before love can start.
Hurt once by love, now you just hide,
Inside of your web...where trust has died.

Nice poem. The web of lies always result in one's own distruction. So it must not be woven.

My best wishes

it`s not good to be alone
Built trust and let truth take over find truth and you will be successful at finding true love once again. Don't weave a web of deception where only you can reach yourself a lonely place a lonely space.

A very good tale in the poem with a real life ending.
"You wove a web...to protect your heart,
To trap outsiders...before love can start.
Hurt once by love, now you just hide,
Inside of your web...where trust has died."
Many kinds of web. Some more dangerous than others. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
