"Don't Ask"

"Don't Ask"

A Poem by Valentine

  "Don't Ask!"

You can ask,
But I cannot give,
The part of me
You need to live.
I gave it once...
Long ago;
Pain returned,
That I know.
All I can offer.
Is today;
Yet pain may come
Anyway.
My heart is not
Free to give;
Ask for another
Reason to live.
My heart would only
Bring you pain;
In its presence...
Love would be slain.
Please do not ask...
I cannot give
All of my heart...
That you might live.
my heart died...long ago;
Why hearts beat, I do not know?

Simply perfect, an emotional run of shortened prose and anguish with soothes even the most jaded of readers palate, well done.

this is very creative..and emotional too..
i really liked it a lot...all the things you said is sometimes very much true..
sometimes you cannot give your heart to someone who broke it once or more than that...sad but true:)
this is going to my favourates ...
keep on writing like that...

This is really emotional, and that causes someone to want to read all of the way through. But on top of that the short line structure kind of act as cliff hangers, so really you're dragged to the bottom and before you know it you've read this wonderful poem...its really nice. as always

Val; Your work is extreem to say the least. This is very well writen but you do not need me to tale you that. Also in this pome you have let your emotions lead your hands. I find the topic of the poem very painful with a scense on dread. I hope this is not an accurencs in real life. I Challenge you to change the subject and write something more upbeat if not humors.
