"Seeking Freedom"

"Seeking Freedom"

A Poem by Valentine

   "Seeking Freedom"

Looking at all of the free things in life;
Not in bondage, but given a choice.
Spreading one's wings, to openly soar,
Above all pain...to Heaven's Door.

Falcons soaring...wild and free,
Never owned...just free to be.
Butterflies swarm in colors galore,
Being themselves and nothing more.

Feral animals...owned by no one,
Not chained but free to roam.
Fish in the sea, going no where,
Swimming free...and no one cares.

Free from all...of life's woes,
Happy to travel...where life goes.
No chains...to tie them down,
Free to be in country or town.

Wild things do not belong in a cage;
They destroy souls...bring on rage.
This wild heart...longed to be free,
To be owned, by no one but me.

Take the key...unlock life's door;
Grab the freedom, you long for.
Do not put chains, upon a free soul,
Leave it's heart completely whole.

Love in bondage...when given a choice,
Comes for free...when given a voice.

One of the things i absolutely love the most about your writing is that it can be interpreted in many ways and it is very describtive. This one is fantastic! :)

I liked this poem dear friend. Love stayed when the doors are open and life/laughter is given without price.
"Love in bondage...when given a choice,
Comes for free...when given a voice."
The above lines were very good. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I think this is more about the shackles of the flesh than of relationships. The freedom sought here is that of death, a release from worldly woes and captivity - 'Imprisoned in the flesh' springs to mind. Reminiscent of that old saw, 'if you own it set it free; if it comes back it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was!

An interesting read. I like your rhyming scheme and the message. I believe hearts need to be free to love without shackles or demands. Nice poem Valentine!
