"Colors"A Poem by Valentine
"Colors"
Sunlight reflecting off of the beautiful glass,
Blurring all one's sight; but lighting up the mind.
Colors of all types, much too beautiful to pass.
Reflecting off specks of dust and all that light can find.
Leaving the colored glass, in flickering light beams.
Shimmering off all of life's wonderful passing things.
All tints' so bright, bringing memories and forgotten dreams,
Recalling various shades...the different colors can bring.
The purity of fresh falling snow...brings thoughts of white.
Colors of lost sight...black...the color of midnight.
With the rising of the sun...yellow lights each place,
Brown the color of earth, and a playing child's face.
The setting of the sun puts orange at our door,
Purple, the color of sage, flowers and so much more.
Trees blowing in the wind, shaking green turning leaves,
Red for the anger one feels when one's love does cease.
The pink in the cheeks of a young girls pretty face,
Blue, the color of the sky, in which puffy clouds do race.
Then all of the colors fade...like the yellowing of old lace
Or they flow together, blending a different time and place.
Yet off of the cathedral windows...the colors do reflect,
All of the beauty of this earth which too often we forget.
Light shining through stained windows...such beauty to behold,
Colors to cause your head to nod and your hands in prayer to fold.
