"Just As I Am"

"Just As I Am"

A Poem by Valentine

"Just As I Am"

When they cried for a "King,"
He sent a "Lamb."
One that could love me, just as
I am.
Born in a stable, with animals
at His feet;
Mary there...to provide Him
something to eat.
God's only Son, who chose to
come down,
Leaving behind the riches and
His Heavenly crown.
A wee child born...with a heart
full of love
To fulfill prophesy, He came
down from above.
To give the whole world the
gift of Himself;
For He was not seeking...
worldly riches or wealth.
They cried for a "King," He
sent a Lamb
One that could love me...just
as I am.
They searched all of the palaces
befitting a King;
Not knowing He would arrive
with...nothing.
Three wise men came...with
Gifts from afar;
They were guided by one
Heavenly star.
Born in a small stable, God's
chosen Son;
Arriving with nothing, yet still
He come.
To offer the world...the gift
of His love,
And that of...His Kingdom...
in Heaven above.
When they cried for the Messiah,
He sent a Lamb;
One that would love me, just
as I am.
He sent down a "Baby" when
they cried for a King.
They knew not...His gift offered
love...life...everything.
Thank You Father, for the Precious Child,
Who loved the world...and accepted me...
Just as I am.

Very beautiful reminder of the real meaning of Christmas. I love the wonderful sound of it. It seems to bring peace for the reader as it's read.

Yes, this certainly hits the spot for those of a religious bent. Heartwarming and honest, extolling the humble over the proud and wealthy. Just one crit,
Born in a small stable, God's
chosen Son;
Arriving with nothing, yet still
He come.

'Came' is the grammatical term. I think you chose 'come' for reasons of rhyme, but 'came' is still acceptable as a form of assonance, and doesn't fall badly on the ear.
David.
