Soon fresh hurt would come,
as she struggled to be...
a weak floundering ship upon...
a stormy wind tossed sea.
Thats my favorite stanza.................. yeah the past repeats sometimes........ its hard to keep our heads up in hard times......... nice work i enjoyed it
Why indeed.... but there, I'm sure they can. It all comes down to choices. Experts tell us that men tend to look for carbon copies of their mother, while women look for father figures. Whether we do or not, it's noticeable that individuals tend to make the same sorts of choices time after time, with the inevitable results. In this sense, I suppose, it's possible to choose rejection. The key is to break the mould, and find someone who is totally different in every way. Unfortunately, we seem to be attracted to certain types, whether we like it or not, and those types are not necessarily good for us, as experience shows.
Another problem is that once rejected, we tend to take that forward in anticipation with the next partner, and it then becomes a self-fulfiling prophecy. You expect to be rejected, therefore you are rejected. Perhaps the only way forward is to refuse to take rejection on board as part of your 'baggage', put it down to incompatability, and see it as an opportunity to move on. It takes more than one apple to make an orchard.
