" Why Care "

" Why Care "

A Poem by Valentine

            " Why Care "

Never to know, never to see,

The person that, might have been me.

For I was lost, to the powers of the night.

Darkness called...the owl took flight.

Taking advantage of the night and its lure,

Falling into evils...that have...no cure.

Bitten by the pleasures that can be found,

When cast out... unto the night...ground.

The world of darkness...sees no light;

No differences between...wrong or right.

Go in for the kill...take it for free.

Feed off of the soul, that could have been me.

Owls and bats...see, sense...and feel,

Sucking out the good,  their hungers are filled.

"Why Care"
valentine,
This poem is a beautiful analogy of the draw of sin's darkness. You explained the contrasting details of darkness and it's ways and effect. The darkness actually seems to be a 'who.'
Anyway that may be stretching things a bit.
You really got this right!
"The world of darkness...sees no light.
No differences between...wrong or right."
In reading your responses to said poem, I see the subject matter. It was well executed and understandable.
I hope you are doing well and anticipating some special moments this December and lovely holiday-Christmas.
Blessings,
Kathy

oooh dark clouds are hanging low. Poe-esque? but remarkably executed like so many of your other writes, Kathie.

The above two statements were my favorite. Made me think and have some wild visions. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

I agree my dear friend.
I like how you switched up your style a bit with this one. It has a much darker tone. The night can be so much more that just a darker sky. I love how you portrayed that here. Thank you for sharing with me again.
