Mother Nature

Mother Nature

A Poem by Valentine

              Mother Nature

Surely God meant to leave more than this,

Not world disasters, we'd all wish to miss.

Guess Mother Nature has gotten older,

She seems senile and her touch is colder.

She seems cranky and angry every day,

Ask for sunshine, dark clouds get in the way.

Mother Nature sure has been acting strange;

The earth and seasons, she has rearranged.

Just when planting time comes around,

My plot is all water...no sun to be found.

God, can't You... hear my sincere wish,

For the warm sun, and the winds sweet kiss.

Snow piled up, high above everyone's knees,

All one hears, is a cough, and a big sneeze.

Isn't it time... for Mother Nature to retire,

Leave this world for another to inspire?

Maybe... she finally has...a daughter or a son;

To do the jobs.... that she.... has not done.

Finally rearrange, all four of the seasons.

So to complain...I will finally, have no reason.

very nice poem! Was a pleasure to read. I loved the way you described "Mother" Nature. Like u know her having a son or a daughter, her retiring, I guess it's called personification, right?
In our family, we call the moon uncle, like Uncle Moon. I have always been thinking whether this "uncle" is a real uncle and whether he is living like a human uncle, or if he has a wife and kids. So this poem of "Mother Nature" revived that question of mine and has half answered it too.
so thanks for writing it!!

P.S. I wasn't on here for more than a month, so I haven't read or reviewed anyone's poem/story until recent, sorry.

Here we say Mother Nature controls the weather more as a joke. God is always in control. Kathie
I liked this poem, the concept of Mother Nature and the slightly dark tone of the poem engrossed me. I love the last stanza, the way you imply that Mother Nature has given birth to someone else. I enjoyed the central theme of this poem.

Nice poem, Valentine. :)

i took a sense of the seasons being children .
I quite like the idea of Mother Nature taking a back seat and passing the crown onto an heir - like our own Queen Elizabeth haha.
Very inventive Kathie.
Current and fun write my friend.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the poem and the way you personalized it. Of course, it is mother nature we are talking about. So not much personalization really required.

IMHO, mother nature is pissed because we screwed it up.

Ron, seems that way in a lot of places. Kathie
I enjoyed this poem. If Mother Nature was real. We would be in deep trouble. Made her house a mess. I liked the ending. Four seasons and four children? Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.
