Standing and KnockingA Poem by Valentine
"Standing and Knocking"
Deep reflections in the eyes, showing the brightness, And the beauty of his glorious face; Yet reflecting all of the dark places he has been. As he stood at life's door, knocking...knocking loudly To be let in...into the places one is allowed to see, But never allowed...to touch. Standing at life's window, staring at the distance Between life and dream. Eyes reflecting the beauty, The brightness of her face...yet she stands alone. Mired in the dark places he has dwelt in for so long. Still, he knocks at life's door, seeking entrance... Entrance to all in life he has always been allowed to see, But was forbidden to touch. Eyes...never leaving The beauty there...the beauty of her face. Reflected in eyes, his eyes...eyes that are forbidden, To open life's door or to touch...just once touch Her face...her face and all of the forbidden things Lying on the other side...the other side of life. Knocking...but to poor to be allowed in; To just once touch, all.... that lies on life's other side. {P&C} Valentine © 2016 Valentine© 2017 ValentineAuthor's Note
