Night Demons

Night Demons

A Poem by Valentine

         "Night Demons"
Yesterday's pain...bitter, yet sweet,
Thoughts buried, where hurt oft retreats.
Long ago demons, alive and uncoiled...
Dreams of tomorrow, where hope is unsoiled.

Nightmares and questions, unanswered reveal,
Parts of a soul, laying raw and unhealed.
Memories of a life...before the deep cold...
Time without meaning, life's pictures on hold.

Waiting to be set free, from the darkness of night;
Pain and dreams...until dawns early light.
Flashes of faces...and teardrops that trace,
Pathways from haunted eyes...no way to replace.

Life's promises...before the winter's kill;
Death to the heart, that remembers it still.
Ice and frost, that can chill... to the bone,
Too many nights, to dwell in hell...all alone.

Lost in the agony, of yesterday's pain;
Thoughts of a child...locked out once again.
Red colors---all flowing---like rare vintage wine;
Black and blue shades, that blank out the mind.

Memories demons...alive in the night;
Will you be the warrior, that makes them take flight?

A real thought of human nature to remember the past has been well crafted in this poem. we all remember the good and bad happening of past in everyday life. it is a thoughtful poem that have composed, Kathie. The following line are my favorite. "Life's promises...before the winter's kill;
Death to the heart, that remembers it still.
Ice and frost, that can chill... to the bone,
Too many nights, to dwell in hell...all alone."

This was meant to tell that memories linger in a grown up after being abused as a child. Valentine
If all that hangs on are the painful memories we've come a long way. Good one, Kathie

Honestly I really enjoyed this. It was very well written and very well thought out. I could tell you took you're time which brought out a very meaningful poem that can cut deep into anyone. It's beautiful and painful in its on way. Though we all have to face our demons some time or another. Become warriors in our own lives.

I really enjoyed that part that szhzia mentioned. Very amazing really enjoyed it. Keep it up!

I loved these lines so much. This poem was relatable. Thank you for sharing this poem. I loved the way you have presented the feelings like in first stanza you have described your pain and sorrow and by the end you gained courage and that question provokes thoughts. The expression of relating the pain and hopelessness I could feel the need to be strong. Well done a well written poem.

Really loved the concept and darkness of this poem. The demons really do find their way to us in the quietness of our own mind.
