Yesterday's Wind

Yesterday's Wind

A Poem by Valentine

   "Yesterdays Wind"

Yesterday's wind upon my face...
Billowing clouds, of tattered lace;
Gusting just... enough to bring
Old memories of forgotten things.

Swirling tints of grey and blue...
Cold hints of winter's hue;
Falling sheets of frozen ice,
Chilling thoughts...that still entice.

Drops against the window pane,
Flowing past all of earth's remains;
Icy reminders...of the past,
And heartaches that will always last.

Each new winter...does embrace,
A chilling memory...of your face,
And the coldness of a home...
When a frozen heart, is left alone'

With yesterday's wind upon the face,
And frozen thoughts...time can't erase;
Wanting relief, from winter's pain...
And spring to show...its face again.

The darkness of old unhappy memories compared to the chill and gloom of winter is so apt. Brightness can break through and we should enjoy those moments until spring can produce new shoots of hope.

Norman, just words, I am generally in a silly laughing mood. Kathie
I always talk about loving simplicity in writing and I mean it. I love the way your writing makes me think. You could take work like this and have a great story on its own. But you always leave room for thought. The last two lines are my absolute favorite: "[w]anting relief, from winter's pain.../ And spring to show... its face again." Winter and spring are two seasons, ideas, that are so similar, yet so different and they work so well together. And using these two ideas at the end brings everything full circle. Makes me think of death and new birth and the circle of life. But also the way the poem is closed just makes me think of hope. Maybe the old memories, heartache, forgotten things, and frozen heart will not die, and something else be born, but rather evolve in the spring. So many possibiliteis with this work. Again wonderful!

thats the beauty of it ;)
great stuff says i! well done! the wind is special no doubt ..it blows all kinds of memories both fresh and those forgotten; as well as brand new scents and feelings ..i particularly like the "falling sheets of frozen ice" .. when it first starts it is not always unpleasant .. i have turned my face to it without pain and it is such a cool pleasant lightly stinging kiss ;) enjoyed reading my friend!
