Moonlight and Wine

Moonlight and Wine

A Poem by Valentine

         Moonlight and Wine

Moonlight...and rich burgundy wine.
Locked inside of, this heart of mine.
With this "thought", a warm embrace;
Which over the years, has lost its face.

A very simple, touching, and true poem Valentine, as usual! I've experienced the longing that memories can bring, as well as (literally) the inability to remember faces clearly. But I do remember the feelings; the warmth, and the love. I think that's what brings about the longing for me

Thank you Lydia, I am appreciative of your reviews. Kathie
It seems with age we lose either the faces or the names of once dear friends or acquaintances. It's sad.
At least I haven't forgotten mine, yet!

Bittersweet memories stirring under the light of the moon with the sweet taste of nectar on the lips.

The senses are renowned for stirring up thoughts and memories. A smell. A taste. A touch. And all the feelings from the past rise to the surface.

Brief, but nicely written.

Had to smile, I haven't had a drink of any kind in years. Allergic to alcohol. Kathie
You said a handful in so few words. Time can be a heavy burden for us. When places and faces are missed. Thank you dear friend for sharing the excellent poetry.

nice work Valentine ..short and moving .. so much of us is locked inside ..some pining, some waiting patiently ..some simply glowing ... we should do our best to remember those faces ...we too easily forget sometimes
