![]() The Joy of ChristmasA Poem by ValentineThe Joy of Christmas The holiday season is upon us, and the mad scramble is on to try to satisfy children's wants, and keeping up with the people down the street. If a couple really wants to give their children the true spirit of Christmas this year, teach them that there is joy in giving. Take the children along when the canned goods are donated to the needy organizations. Let them hand the cans to the person taking them that day. Make a special trip to take a name off of one of the local trees where names are placed. Let your child take money out of his or her own piggy bank to fulfill that need. You can secretly replace it later. Buy a bunch of fruit, take the children to the old folks home, let them pass out fruit to strangers, and see the smiles on an old person's face, just because someone cared. {always check to see who might not be able to have fruit, in case of diabetes} These could be traditions done each year to teach the joy of giving, as well as receiving. Make giving to strangers... a part of your home's family traditions. These are things they may remember to do in later years with their own children. Above all, let them know, this is the anniversary... of the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell them the true story of the Christmas holiday. In years to come, these teachings will come pouring back to you; as you see them making you a large part of their own family traditions. Because you made family and grandparents a large part of yours. There is much joy to be found in making your own family traditions. Merry Christmas one and all. © 2016 ValentineReviews
