A King

A King

A Poem by Valentine

             A King

They cried for a King; He sent a Lamb,

One that would  love me, just as I am,

They cried for a Savior, A redeemer was born,

In a starlit stable early Christmas morn.

They cried for a King; He sent a "babe,"

One that would save, the world He made.

He came down from Heaven, giving up a crown;

He loved us so much, as a baby He came down.

To dwell in the world...in human form;'

They cried for a King, but a child was born.

Mary and Joseph, "no room in the inn."

Born in a stable, yet He absorbed all our sins.

God's only Son, came down to  this earth;

Born of a virgin, it was a miraculous birth.

They cried for a King: A Savior was born;

In a starlit stable, early Christmas morn.

God loved us so much, He sent down His Son,

To walk beside us, until earth's battle is won.

no they are not!
true true and true ;) your content uplifts me as our so familiar stories of old spring to mind .. such a life Christ lived .. and only 33 years (or so) it occurred to me how i pray for our leaders with every new election cycle and during the interim .. they are much like the prayers of many of the Jewish Nation .. who expected a physical King .. interesting ... your poem has given me new perspectives on politics, Kathy ... love and peace!

Beautiful and powerful account of God's redemption and light. It seems that weakness and frailty can grow into strength and wisdom in the divine plan.

This is SO beautiful! Your opening words (They cried for a King; He sent a Lamb, One that would love me, just as I am) just gripped my heart and I felt His presence. He gave you these words and I am blessed because you have shared them! Have a beautiful Christmas my sweet friend. ~Sharon
