"Painting Word Pictures"

"Painting Word Pictures"

A Poem by Valentine

      "Painting Word Pictures"

With words, I paint pictures in my mind;
Of far away places and long ago times.
Sometimes the pictures are so easy to find,
But often I am stopped, by words that won't rhyme.

I think of the stories, I am trying to tell;
They are locked in my mind and continually dwell.
If I had a paint brush...could I paint you one time,
Or are you locked in a yesterday that is no longer mine.

I often search for the correct words to say;
Always hoping the rhymes will come...and stay.
For years I did paint, with spectacular hues;
I wish I had painted...a word picture of you.

I have always loved words and pastel colors that shine;
Ways to express all that I feel in my mind.
It seems that what ever medium I may choose;
What I am trying to express is... a clear view of you.

Just to express...that all that I feel...
In words or in colors--for me is so real.
I guess that what...I am trying to say;
By a pen, pencil or paint brush, I love you today.

So if you see a painting, or of words that are in rhyme;
I hope you will remember...I really loved you one time.

are you locked in a yesterday that's no longer mine - oooohhhhh I like that - it says so much -

the whole piece is a real gem I must say - if only we could encapsulate those feelings and share them exactly when we need to - without fear and instead only the love in which is intended

a really lovely piece - it resonates X

Some people just like to express themselves in more than one way. Kathie
"For years I did paint, with spectacular hues;
I wish I had painted...a word picture of you." - this is filled with regret, I feel, Kathie, at the inadequacy that the author felt their limited word vocabulary restricted their desires in terms of their art. Three words spoken or written directly to the object of our affection will replace a whole dictionary or thesaurus in that case.
Or maybe the author felt they couldn't do justice in trying to convey the extent of feeling - in that case perhaps no words ever could have.

You painted a first-rate image of an artist in pain here.

Thats what makes writing and reading so magical Kathie. Your welcome.
You have done it once again Valentine; you've impressed me greatly. From the very get-go this poem is rich with colorful figurative language and unforced, nearly perfect rhymes. You wrote, " I often search for the correct words to say", and I can tell you with the upmost certainty that you found the correct words to use in this poem! I have to say that the flow on this piece is probably the best I've seen on this website yet. I don't know what the best synonym for beautiful is, but whatever it is, it's what I'd use to describe this poem.

Easily, no questions asked, this piece deserves a 100/100. EXTRAORDINARY. :)
