"Last Rose"

"Last Rose"

A Poem by Valentine

  "Last Rose"

Does summer's last rose know,
 that with each sunset
Winter comes closer
and death is nigh?

Or a broken angel,
, with torn wings
Return to flight,
 to do God's things?

If a soaring eagle flies,
yet never knew Heaven,
Could he fly the angel back,
To the place she once dwell in?

Can the last rose of summer
 hold its head high,
Until all winter's cold,
 passes it by?

In life can impossible
 daydreams come true,
And if so, could God
 return me to you?

Would the talons of the eagle,
 take me in flight,
Carry me until Heaven
 and you were in sight?

Does summer's last rose know
, with each setting sun,
Winter approaches,
 and deaths angel has won?

Will the soaring eagle ever
 know about Heaven?
Or a broken angel return,
to the place it once dwell in?

Give me a few weeks of flight,
 upon the eagle high above.
That I might once again remember
, the sweet sensation of,

Wind upon my face and
feel the air beneath my wings.
Let summer's last rose live,
to know and see these things.

I loved the complete poem.
"Does summer's last rose know,
that with each sunset
Winter comes closer
and death is nigh?"
The above lines stood out to me. Life and death. All things have opposites I suppose. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Good poetry with a vivid imagery and well constructed lines. I liked the comparisons a lot, they added a sweet tone to the poem. Really enjoyed it.

Thank you Stan, let me know when you post. Kathie
To be free and with the ones that mean the most is a dream/hope/wish we can all relate to. To know that flowers fade, but love never dies, is a wish to hold on to dearly. We may not understand, but we can live in hope, nothing can diminish that.
Beautiful write.
