"Imperfect Face"

"Imperfect Face"

A Poem by Valentine

     "Imperfect Face"

In the garden of flowers.

Sits one perfect rose,

Catching every eye

In vanity... she grows.

Growing beside of her,

An imperfect face

Wilted and just hanging,

Draped... in shrouded lace.

Finally... catching the eye,

Of the gardener's shears,

Shriveling, she tried to hide;

She hung her face in fear.

Deciding to take her home

And not cast her away;

Placed in a vase with water,

She stands today.

Growing... so profusely

She cast away all fear,

And... in silent contentment ...

Stayed in full bloom... for years.

Valentine,
The inner beauty defining is what I gather from "Imperfect face."
On our pathway of life are we gardeners who desire to nurture other's with the fertilizer of our time and attention. We can at least try to place broken ones into the warm sunshine of companionship.
This was lovely and I found myself challenged. Thank you for presenting this poem.
Blessings, Kathy

You bet, it is what is on the inside of a person. Kathie
Nature as metaphor is something you handle extremely well. Thank you for sharing.

Sweet! I'm glad that the little flower lived to bloom and wasn't thrown away.

This just made me go "awwww" out loud. Great writing about never giving up and with just a little attention things can become beautiful. Love it!
