"The Oak's Thoughts"

"The Oak's Thoughts"

A Poem by Valentine

      The Oak's Thoughts

              You stand there

               stripped naked

             your arms reaching

                    forlornly...

               toward the sky.

              Reaching upward

            into the gloomy greys

                     of winter.

                 With no warmth

                or beauty showing

                 through the haze

               of another cold dawn.

                      Your heart

                 longing for spring

                     to once again

                 enclose you in it's

                         warmth.

                  Dressing you in...

                   shades of green

              so that your nakedness

                     will be hidden

                  from prying eyes.

               Hating the color green

                 you long for summer

                 to speed hastily by

                        leaving you

                            clad in

                autumn's beautiful dress.

              With bright hues of orange

                         red and gold

                           forgetting...

                 that once autumn passes

                       you will once again

                           stand naked.

                         Arms reaching...

                           in winter's ice.

I like how you use the naked tree to describe the four seasons. Nicely written. Keep writing.

This is a lovely piece that personifies(or maybe symbolizes) an Oak Tree, so that we can comprehend what would perhaps go on in its head as the seasons go by. On top of the already distinct topic here, there is also a plethora of literary devices present to enrich the poem and give it character. Fantastic job, Valentine. :)

one can not just be satisfied eh!? ... i have a large oak along me driveway .. its everywhen it presses me to no end .. ;) but this time of year and a month or so ago .. its the squirrels fancy that graces me soul ... i watch them bury those seedling buds ... and no matter how many they bury ...they know where to dig them up .. go figure ..i have a hard time remembering where the keys are! :} i think your title is a bit off ... it intends the viewpoint of the oak itself .. but the poem is observational from outside his hoary skin ;)) this confuses me .."Hating the color green.... you long for summer" perhaps i must come back in the morning ..and read again ... the oak is a symbol of strength and endurance and abundance ... your poem turns me to wonder how it suffers ... :{ so well done says i!

A very beautiful view of the seasons of a tree. The imagery of color was excellent. Well done.

Dear poet. Create vision for the lonely tree. I enjoyed your description leading to good ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
