Walking the streets where sleep is free, All is black, even the soul inside of me. Wandering alone, no cares and no goals, No hope left for a black heart with no soul.
Walking at night, finding sleep in the day, A constant vigil to hold the terrors at bay. Meeting the eyes of each person one greets, The darkest of sins walk down these streets.
Walking away, old thought of olden times, Before drugs and the bottle, when hope was mine. Wandering alone, all love lost so long ago; All feelings blanketed under deep falling snow.
Feeling the fear...as you walk and you meet, God's castaways..in the rain and the sleet. Forget about home, family is gone forever more, All lost and cast away, life walked out a slamming door.
Walking the streets, never having a hope or a dream, All was lost but death...but it is closer than it seems.
A sad tale, but the only castaways God has are those the walked out on his offer of help. When alone and the darkness falls on us the darkness surrounds and embraces us. We must recognize this dark place and escape back to the light. Very well crafted piece of work.
As I read this, I felt as if I was looking through a window, of what may happen. If one does not plan ahead.
So many just live for the moment. I guess one needs to find some balance between the two.
It's scary how easily anyone of us can fall in to such a dark place. Feeling trapped within the labyrinth of despair; depression. Wondering how we got there in the first place. It's like a spiritual journey, one must take, to find themselves again. Being reborn in the process. Very thought-provoking piece, Valentine. I pray that God will watch over these poor souls and to guide their way, through their darkest time.

In other words save part of your check first...then buy what you can afford with the rest. Some people are out there even though they did every thing right. Others from drugs, drinking, over spending, also by choice as they are too lazy to work. Kathie
Honest and direct thoughts in the poetry.

I learn the old wisdom I learn a long time ago. We can't return to the place we left after the change of time had twisted life and memory. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

In my opinion when most families break apart, the homeless emerge. Thank you for sharing this fine piece which shows that you are a caring person who not only thinks for herself but considers the well-being of others as well.
