"World In Your Hands"

"World In Your Hands"

A Poem by Valentine

      World In Your Hands

You reach for the stars while the moon

lies at your feet...sleeping.

Crawl inside of a stranger's heart.

while love lies at home...weeping.

You crave the warm summer sun,

yet curse its blasted heat.

Toss coins to strangers...yet...

kick stray dogs at your feet.

You could hold the whole world

in the palm of your hand...yet you

always step upon others,

and...do not give a damn.

You donate to charities

that others might live.

While in your own home...

you have nothing to give.

Wishing to ride high...

in the presence of kings...but

your soul is just an empty space,

you have filled with nothing.

What little you had left

has dried up your insides.

You have reached for the stars,

and then let your own soul die.

If you held the world

in the palm of your hand;

nothing would change..as...

you cannot feel...you are damned.

You reach for the stars while

the moon lies at your feet...sleeping.

Play games with other faithless hearts,

while love lies at home...weeping.

glad Richard brought this one back up...missed it before.

yes, this does happen...the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, so we jump the fence and go after it.

and what we had disintegrates...and then later we realize what we had...but it's too late...that person's love has dried up---and we are left in a barren field with no grass at all.

I have seen this with friends and family members. It is the little ones that suffer. Kathie
Scintillating poem Kathie, it reads like a mad dash of emotion, absolutely loved it :)

Thank you very much. Kathie
I know many men that fit this description, I have heard their braggadocio and seen the way their family lives at home behind their broken fenced-in yards and ill-kept hedges. I have seen the way that their money is spent on the boys and the gals in the bars before they go home to their families.
I can imagine that there may be women of the same ilk but, I have no first hand knowledge so I can make no further comment.

keeping up appearances outside the home while a family suffers the realities...this is a raw truth that is quite relevant today, unfortunately... nicely-penned, Kathie

Sadly it is not just the grown up that suffers. Kids are put through Hell on earth. Kathie
I like this poem.when i read this the first thought that came in my mind was the celebrities mainly
movie stars or the singers who are portrayed as if there life is perfect. though they might look perfect, and it may seem that they have a lot to give, but they themselves are empty souls inside.like people throw parties they may have power, fame, money, friends and everything but they are the most lonely and hurt inside and are constantly being judged.
I don't remember the name but this reminds me of one of Kelly Clarkson's song.I may not be right but this is what comes first in my mind when I read it.
Thanks for sharing .This was beautiful and honest :)

yes this is true... what we have ,we can't see, what we can't have we keep chasing at the cost of all the we already have...and in results we end up as empty body taking breathes only !this is tragedy many of us usually suffer knowingly or unknowingly. very nicely written..great job indeed. loved it.
