Shadows appear
Causing all light
To disappear.
Slowly leaving all
Deep in shades
Of black and grey.
For love
Was the light
That brought sunshine
To the darkest
Of nights.
But love died
And shadows
Walked in
Obscuring all traces
Of where it had been.
Night cannot
Warm the heart,
Frozen and cold.
As all warmth
Walked out
Closing life's door.
Shutting out all
Light that was left
By loves warmth...
And you .
All that remains
Are shadows turning grey
And the ice...
Loves departure makes.

"Night cannot warm the heart", I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about this line that I really love. I could feel every single ounce of sadness in this piece being emanated by the words. You made this piece very atmospheric with the vocab you used, and the format really works with this piece. I would say that this very accurately conveys the feelings of somebody who has had their heart broken and/or perhaps the thoughts that one has when he/she has lost somebody very close to him/her. In the end, this is a very strong, highly emotional, and beautifully written piece.
