"Frozen In Time"

A Poem by Valentine

"Frozen In Time"

A house grows so cold, when love is gone,
All warmth leaves, then pain enters...so strong.
A deep chill wraps around the soul,
Allowing no warmth... to make it whole.
A heart turns into a block of ice,
No way to lure out, nor to entice.
It spreads until...all is cold,
Body's ice...shuts out, even the bold.
Tears begin to fall, slowly turning into sleet,
Heavy layers of ice as eyes weep and weep.
All thought just stops...frozen in time,
Locked back into the years, when love was fine.
Years of warmth frozen into solid ice...over night,
Ice began forming when your love walked from sight.
Numbness creeps in but thoughts still abide,
Why can't painful memories, be frozen outside.
Memory deludes, even the wisest of hearts,
All frozen in time..it shatters a life apart.
When pain enters, it destroys the soul,
All parts shattered, no way to become whole.
Life lies in shards and fragments at one's feet,
Heart is solid ice..and yet it still beats.
Memory is just cold... a rerun of life,
Just icy reminders of all of the pain and strife.
A home turns to ice, when love leaves the door,
Memory left frozen in time...lomging for more.

Smiling now.........
Such a sorrow enters when the warmth of love is no longer woven in the air...I felt this deeply, such a visceral and yearning poem, beautifully portrayed love...

The home is what you make it and what you remember and what you want to achieve. A lovely write that reaches out

The love in a house is what makes the home. Even with your lovely memories the house is still the home you once remember.

I moved and sold all too soon Robert. Kathie
Love can leave a home several different ways! One or both can just grow apart. One may die as the result of an accident. One may die as the result of a crime perpetrated on him. One may die of natural causes. One may cheat with another other than the spouse. There are others. These circumstances will all affect the loss of love in the home differently by the spouse left behind.

Love makes a house a home - warm and inviting. Your description of the chill when love is gone is so vivid and real. Exceptional writing my friend.
