Chapter 45

Lumia looks around the city trying to find a black van and soon she found it at an old warehouse. So she jumped off Fen and Fen equipped to her as they crash through a wall. The lady then said, "Damn it, it's the cops." But when they look outside they weren't surrounded and when the dust settles they saw Lumia was by herself and started to relax. Lumia looked around and she saw the little girl and said, "Let her go." The lady smirk and said, "Do you think you scare us? You're all by yourself. Everyone get her." Thirty assault rifles were soon pointed at Lumia and opened fire on her. Lumia walked through the hail of bullets as they bounced off of Fen's armor. So a woman took out a sniper rifle and shot an armor piercing round at her. But Fen destroyed the bullet and gun with an energy shot from the shoulder mounted guns. Fen starts destroying all of their weapons and soon they held knives, bats, planks, and pipes and rushed at Lumia. Lumia drew the swords on her shoulders and started to knock them out one by one. Soon the white cat lady ran away while Lumia continues to fight until they all backed away. As a green mech's hand smashed through the side of the building, grabs Lumia, and throws her into an abandon apartment complex.

Lumia sat up and started to call Vain telepathically. When he picked up she said, "Vain, I could use a little help here." Vain then said, "Alright," left the hospital, got inside Zec, and flew towards Lumia's coordinates. The girl thought that this was a perfect time to escape again and she started to run away. The cat lady in the mech saw that and was going to chase her when Vain and Zec dropped kick the lady. As the mech laid on the ground, Vain made Zec tear the arms and legs off the mech. Leaving the mech motionless on the ground as he walks over to the girl and Vain lets go of the controls, deciding to let Zec take over from here. So Zec extends his left hand out slowly to her, setting it down in front of her to show her he meant no harm, and that he was going to help her. The girl saw Zec's giant hand and saw its beautiful color of white and blue. She touched Zec's hand and quickly retracted her hand but she touched it again and climbed into his palm when she saw Zec didn't do anything.

Zec opened his chest piece and placed the girl inside with Vain. They all then left the area and headed back to the hospital. Once they got back, they let the girl eat some food and sleep in the car with the others. Soon morning had arrived and Void and Veto walked up to the car. They were released after ten hours of questioning and Lumia laughed while Luxia said, "As I thought, it will be best to move on." Void then said, "So I take it we'll be splitting up." Luxia nodded her head and said, "Yep, let's see... Lumia will stay with Vain and Luvia while the three of us move on." Void looked at Lumia and said, "Are you fine with that Lumia?" Lumia replied, "Of course, don't worry about us. We'll be fine on our own." Void then said, "Alright, then Luxia and Veto can ride on Fen and..." Before Void could finish his sentence, several missiles rain down from above. Zec and the military mechs started to shoot them down and Void said, "Well... this helps. I needed a good reason to call him."

Void quickly looked around and saw everyone running in panic, so no one will notice if he suddenly teleported away. So after he found a suitable place far in the distance, he teleported away, and when he reappeared he said, "Come Rexalfist." A blue magic circle appeared below his feet and out of it rose a black mech covered in gold lines and wore a white cape. Void then jumped off its shoulder into its hand and enters its chest. Void sat down comfortably and said, "Rexal get rid of the missiles. Fifty percent power and wide beam." Rexalfist said, "Yes sir," putting his left hand up and firing a wide gold beam out of it. Which covered the sky above the city and destroyed all the missiles. Void the said, "Job well done. Luxia and Veto should be traveling down the road, so let's go meet up with them." Rexalfist then flew into the sky using thrusters below his feet. They soon caught up to Luxia and Veto and Luxia was driving a brown humvee. Void then said, "So I take it Vain gave you guys Lem and Lumia kept Fen." Luxia nodded her head and said, "Well she was seen using Fen, so Fen had to stay with her." Void then said, "I see, well they'll be really busy without us." Luxia laughed and said, "They'll be fine, don't worry so much." Void laughed as well and said, "I hope so."

After a few more hours, Rexalia woke up in the car and stepped out. Lumia then said, "Good morning, did you have a good sleep?" Rexalia thought about it for a bit and replied, "Maybe, it's a bit hard to tell." They both laughed and Lumia gave her a kiss. Vain was on his way out of the hospital, when he saw the scene, he took out a black flip phone, and took a quick picture before putting it away. Vain then walked to the car and said, "Hey Lumia, next time you call me use a phone. We made them by ourselves and have them for a reason." Lumia laughed and said, "Oh, oops. I forgot about them." Vain then sigh and said, "Stupid idiot. Anyway, I'm going to make some more and set them up. Since Rexalia and the kids are going to need one and the phones will already be set with our numbers. So we can call each other quickly if something comes up." Rexalia then asked, "What's a phone?" Lumia showed Rexalia her red flip phone and answered her questions while teaching her how to use one. Lumia also said, "These types of phone are old, but Vain still makes them. Though he has added some extra features to them." So Rexalia asked him, "I see, what kind of features." Vain finished preparing the phones and said, "It's also a laser cutter and a gun." Vain then showed her a button on the left side of the phone and said, "This button uses the functions, determine which way you flip it. Turn it left for the laser cutter and right for laser blaster. If you're worried about the battery, don't. Cause it's a special magic battery design by Void and me. All of us can inject magic into anything we want, including other people. That's how Veto has specialized bullets with absurd traits. The magic battery is the same, we inject it with enough magic to run for a thousand years. Anyway, here you go."

Vain handed Rexalia a red phone and said, "If you lose it then I'll ask Sia to tell me where it is. I have trackers placed in each of them in case someone did lose it, but no one has lost it so far." Once the children woke up, Vain handed them each a phone and taught them how to use it, though he removed the dangerous functions so that they couldn't accidentally hurt anyone or anything. Lumia and Rexalia climbed onto Fen and rode around town, while Vain took the kids into the hospital, took out some bentos, and they all ate in the cafeteria. Soon Vain overheard some doctors talking about a broken machine, so Vain walked up to them, and said, "Want me to fix it?" They were surprised and said, "Yes, if it's not too much trouble." But Vain told them to wait for a bit as he took the children into Luvia's room and told Nezerand to keep them all in the room and don't leave. With them safely in Luvia's room and with Nezerand watching them. Vain left the hospital, climbed into Zec, got a toolbox out of his magic storage, and returned back into the hospital. He soon met up with the doctors and got to work on the machine. Once it was fixed and running well, Vain was soon running around the place fixing televisions, providing technical support, and fixing things. He always went back to Zec to get parts from his magic storage, so people will think he has spare parts in Zec and not from somewhere else.

Soon the nurses and doctors talked to Nezerand, Ruby, Flayna, and the little girl. Saying that their daddy was a hard worker and that they'll do their best for their mommy. As Vain was still working, one of the nurses told him to take a break, and Vain said, "Alright." He finished fixing another television, got some bentos from inside Zec, and went into Luvia's room. Luvia had woke up and everybody ate together. Than Lumia and Rexalia came into the room and Vain handed his bento to them and they ate together. While they ate they talked to the girl and learned her name was Mellerain Faltorun and that she was kidnapped by two men. She was then sold to the cat lady and was brought all the way out here. She doesn't know which way was home and she told them the city's name, but they didn't know where it was. Luvia then said, "Oh, you have the same family name as us. So why not join us? We'll eventually come across your hometown as we travel. So we'll come into contact with your parents eventually." Mellerain looked down at the floor and said, "Are you sure? Won't I be a burden on you guys?" Vain patted her head and said, "As far as we care we're family. So let the grownups worry about money and food. Just be a kid and have fun with the others. After all, you won't be a kid forever." Vain then cleaned up and left the room. Flayna then said, "I agree with papa. He's very strong, reliable, and caring." Nezerand then said, "I'm also strong as well. So you'll be safer if you stay with us." Ruby nodded her head and said, "Mama is also very caring and nice. She's also a great cook." Luvia and Rexalia giggle as Flayna and Nezerand argue about him being strong. Soon everyone was laughing in the room and having a good time.

While Vain was outside putting the bentos away, someone came up behind him, and said, "You need work, right?" Vain turned around and said, "Leonhart Razofangs, was it?" Leonhart nodded his head and said, "I've seen your work on the coast. You're pretty strong, I wouldn't mind having you in my squad." Vain then asked him, "Do your friends trust humans or is it just you?" Leonhart replied, "A few of them, but I'm sure we can get you enlisted into our ranks." Vain jumped down from Zec and said, "Alright, you get me in and I'll do whatever you need." Leonhart was surprised that he accepted so easily and quickly, so he asked, "Don't you want to discuss it with your wife?" Vain laughed and said, "I would if I had more options. But I can't afford to be picky since I have kids to feed and a wife to take care of." Leonhart then said, "Even if you're forced to kill and hurt other humans? Even if there is a chance you'll die or be sent on a suicide mission?" Vain grin and said, "That's fine after all, I'm a killer. I'm used to death and a job is a job, that's it. I'll do anything to protect the people I cherish and everyone else can just disappear."
