Chapter 40

Vain was surprised, but he quickly shakes it off and activated god release. If his other-self is just like him, then he won't be easy to fight. So Vain got serious and rushed at him, but his other self also activated god release and when they clash it sent out a powerful shockwave. Knocking everyone aside and slamming them into the walls, making them unconscious even Luvia. Vain gritted his teeth and his other-self knew what he was thinking. He didn't want to hurt Luvia, but if he doesn't take it seriously then he can't help her. Vain was starting to get impatient and started wildly swinging his sword, aiming at any openings he could find. His other-self sigh and said, "He's really barbaric. It's fine to be reckless, but you need to be calm to land successful strikes." His other-self struck Vain in the side and sent him crashing through several walls. Vain charge back into the fight and created a dark sword in his left. They both continue to block and dodge each other's attacks. Until Vain got struck again and his other-self shot dark bullets after him. Vain threw his engine blade behind him, stood against it, slowing himself to a halt, while he spun his dark sword, and defended against the bullets. He then grabbed his engine blade, before launching off it, and towards the other Vain. The other Vain brace himself for the collision and when they collided he slid back by a few centimeters.

Seeing how he was having the upper edge, Vain was consumed by black flames, and when they died down he had enter beast mode. But he was human size as he didn't want the place to come crumbling down on Luvia. His other-self whistle and said, "Oh... a beast. Mines quite different." The other Vain got wrapped in flames and when it died down, he was an assassin. Vain held his engine blade in between his teeth and rushed at him. The other Vain started to control the shadows and created shadow clones of himself, each holding the same weapons as him. They tried to attack Vain, but Vain slashed them with his claws and devoured them. He then leaped at his other self and spins, swinging his sword in his mouth at him. He stepped back and avoided the attack, before swinging both of his swords at Vain's open back. But Vain's tails block the attacks and he swung his claws at him. His other-self smiled and said, "I knew it, you are pretty strong. Even though you're only relying on your beastly instinct and power you're strong. And strong people makes me stronger." He jumped far back, dodging one of Vain's claw strikes, and stands on the wall, before firing a black crossed sword wave towards Vain.

Vain jumped towards it and tore through it with his claws, firing ten dark energy waves toward the other Vain. He then dove into the shadows, avoiding them, as Vain crash into the wall, and held onto it. His other-self came out of the shadows behind him and swung his sword at his head, but Vain again blocked it with his tails. Before whipping one of his tails at him and hitting him in the chest, knocking him into the ceiling. He then fell on the floor and soon Luxia, Veto, Lumia, and Rexalia arrived in the room. They pushed the door open and when they saw what was happening Veto said, "I'm guessing helping is out of the question." Luxia then said, "Isn't that obvious. Come on, let's get everyone out of here." Lumia had Rexalia stayed at the entrance since it was dangerous and the three of them quickly got everyone out, while the two Vain's fought. Once everyone was out and they were the only two left, Vain threw his sword out of his mouth, and the other Vain knocked it away and into a wall. Vain then open his mouth and raised his tails firing black beams out of them. The other Vain created a wall of darkness and shielded himself from the four beams. Vain then stopped firing the beams and gathered energy into a ball in front of his mouth.

He then shot it towards the shadow barrier wall and obliterated it, along with everything that was behind it. But the other Vain dived into the shadows before the attack connected and struck Vain from below with his swords. Vain crashed into the ceiling and came back down. As the other Vain sank back into the shadows and Vain struck the ground with his claws. Soon Vain, Luxia, Lumia, Veto, and Rexalia paused for a bit and shooked their heads. Their heads were slightly dazed and they felt like they forgot something. The other Vain took this opportunity to attack Vain from behind, but Vain blocked it with his tails. They then went into a crazy frenzy, swinging and attacking with insane force and speed. Soon Luvia woke up and her head started to feel slightly fuzzy and Luxia said, "Hey, take it easy. If you're not feeling well you don't have to stand."

Luvia nodded her head and laid back down and asked, "What happened?" Luxia explained everything and finished by saying, "It looks like Vain is fighting someone strong. It's probably those hooded people's leader." Luvia shook her head and said, "It's not their leader." Luxia then asked, "So who is it?" Luvia replied, "It's Vain, it's another version of him." Everyone was surprised and started to think hard about it and Luxia came up with a conclusion. She explained it to everyone and they all understood it as well. They weren't parallel versions of each other, but alternate versions. They do have the same blood and they feel familiar to each other, but they had different looks and names. But it seems parallel versions are exact copies of themselves, they just have slightly different or majorly different personalities. With that all said, they all opened the door and peeked inside. The two of them were still fighting and Veto said, "I thought it would be hard telling which one is our Vain but... it's pretty obvious, isn't it?" Lumia, Luxia, and Rexalia nodded their head and Luvia giggled.

Luxia then said, "But at this rate, no one is going to win. They're way too evenly matched." Luvia then opened the door all the way and shouted, "You can do it, darling!" They both looked at her and Vain quickly cleared his thoughts and calmed down. He was happy she was fine and safe. The other Vain's sword then touched Vain, as Vain's beast armor starts cracking, and when it shattered Vain was in shining dark knight mode. He then punched the other Vain away and levitated his engine blade out of the wall and into his hand. The other Vain sank into the shadows, but Vain put his hand into the shadows and pulled him out. He then devoured the shadows, before slamming his other-self into the ground, giving him nowhere to run to, and he swung his swords at Vain. But when they touched Vain, he absorbed them into his body, and he began to slowly drain the power out of his other self. Once he had lost his abilities, Vain raised his sword and was about to stab him. When Luvia suddenly ran out and shielded him.

Luvia then said, "That's enough right darling? I know he's not really you, but he's still you from another line in our world. So please don't kill him, please." Vain then disperse his armor and sheathed his sword, before pulling his other self onto his feet. Luvia smiled, gave him a kiss, and said, "Thank you, darling." The other Vain stepped back in disgust and said, "You're dating your own sister?" Vain gave him a glared and said, "Yeah, you got a problem with it?" He replied, "I do, seeing myself date my own sister is weird. Not to mention a taboo." Vain punched him in the face, giving him back his powers, and swords and said, "Shut up. If you got a problem, let's fight again b***h." He grins and said, "Alright then bring it." But before they could Luvia stopped them and they both said, "Fine, next time." Vain then asked his other self, "So where's your Luvia?" He replied, "I had to kill her."

Rexalia was surprised, but not everyone else and Vain said, "I see, so you listen to that old man?" He shook his head and said, "No I didn't. My Luvia was different from yours. She was actually a lot meaner, so it surprised me to see her actually defending me." Vain then said, "I see, well mine is a lot nicer than the norm that's for sure." He laughed and said, "You can say that again, is that why you fell in love with her?" Vain nodded his head and his other-self said, "I guess it's understandable. Given the kind of world we lived in, having someone that gentle and loving would make you want to cherish her. But with that said, it's still not my style." He was about to create a gate and leave when they were all suddenly surrounded by knights and adventurers.

Vain drew his sword and said, "Guess it's time for round two." But before they could get started Melli said, "Oh you won't be fighting us this time. This time you'll be... fighting my father, the demon king." She then stabbed the king, killing him, as she offered him to the seal. Soon the ground started shaking and the ground started to fall apart. Veto and Luxia flew up and away, while Lumia grabbed Rexalia and jumped away and Vain did the same with Luvia. The knights and adventurers ran away from the collapsing ground and a lot of them fell into the dark purple abyss underneath. But Luvia saved them all by creating a barrier bubble around them and lifted them safely out. A demon then flew out of the ground and hovered above the town. He looked human, but he had purple horns, wings, and tail. He was about to say something when something crash into him from outer space and pushed him into the crater.

Everybody stared at the crater and wondered what happened. Soon a six feet tall red and gold dragon flew out of the hole and roar, causing the earth to shake and the wind to vibrate. Everyone then covered their ears and tried to bear with the pain. Once it stopped roaring, the demon king came out of the hole and he was enraged at the dragon and fired a purple beam towards it. But with one flap of its wing, the beam and the demon king was blown into nothing. The demon king's blood rains down on the town and the other Vain whistle and said, "Wow he's strong."
