Chapter 6: Vain versus Void

Void and Vain stood at opposite ends of the palace training grounds. Void told everyone to take a break cause he needed the whole area for sparring. All the knights obey, so they stood on the sidelines resting while also watching. A spar that involve their king was rare, so they always want to watch.

All the girls and Veto was also watching, but Veto and Lumia had to reinforce the ground and castle walls with barriers. Setting a box around the two , otherwise the damage and injuries of the audience would be great. Luvia hugged Vain's coat tightly in her arms, while Void still wore his.

"I'm curious to see how far Vain will push Void this time."

Veto said that with a huge grin across his face. Excited to see the battle that's about to unfold.

"Probably not much, cause last time they spar Void didn't use more then twenty-five percent of his ability. He's actually been taking it easy on me when we spar as well. If I have to say, he was probably fifth-teen percent when we spar."

"Will that guy be alright? Would it be better to stop this?"

Some of the Knights started whispering to each other after hearing Lumia's remark.

"Don't worry, Vain's a lot tougher then most of you guys and he's certainly better then me. Besides I'm sure Void won't be going more then the twenty-five. If he went one-hundred, you'll be really lucky to block him once."

All the knights shudder as they imagine what the person they call king was capable of. Soon silence fell on everyone, as Vain made the first move, and rush towards Void. He swung his blade, but was then blown backwards and slam into the barrier. Everyone was wondering what happen as Void was standing still, with his arms cross. As if he didn't move an inch, but he did. He block Vain's swing with one finger from his left hand and then strike his chest with the very same hand he use to block. Then crossing his arm again in the blink of an eye. As Vain was standing up, Void spoke to him.

"I thought you were going murder me."

"Shut up, I'm just barely getting started."

"I see, well I feel really really cold standing just right here."

"Then allow me to warm you up! Zec, an arm and five swords."

A blue magic circle appear behind Vain, as he rush in, and Zec's arm came out of it along with five swords flying out one after another. The arm attach to Vain's left shoulder and he grab one of the swords. He swung both of his swords down, as the four other swords circle behind Void, and flew towards him. But Void block all of them with one finger from his right hand. Vain attack Void furiously, while also controlling the magic swords to swing at Void. Void on the other hand hasn't budge an inch, still continuing to block with one finger.

"This is warming me up?"

Vain then summon forty-six more swords and they all surrounded Void. It was like a storm of blades just descended around Void. Again he didn't budge, but Void was know using both of his hands to block. Everyone was amaze that Void could block all those blades. Lumia laugh at them as she pointed out why this many swords couldn't hurt Void.

"He isn't blocking all of them, he's redirecting them. So he's actually blocking only about ten or twenty swords. If you're fighting a swarm of blades, most average fighters would think about blocking as many as they can or use some other tactic. My brother instead pushes the blades in another direction causing them to swing into another oncoming blade."

"But what if you give the king no room to move, would he still be able to manage that many swords?"

"I'm surprise you guys call yourself knights, you should have notice by now."

Lumia pointed at the ground, they all look, and notice that Void's feet hasn't left their spot. It was like if a storm descended on them and pick everyone up, Void would be the only one left standing on the ground.

"Blast wave."

A boom could be heard, blasting an air wave around Void, sending blades everywhere, and Vain once again backwards. Vain landed with his back on the ground and Void pointed a finger towards Vain.

"My turn, explosion."

A small orb of fire shot out of Void's finger towards Vain. He put his sword between him and the fire. Once it touch his sword, a giant fireball exploded next to him, knocking him back, and slamming him into the wall. Vain stab his sword into the ground, stopping him from falling, and he crank his sword three times. He then drew his sword out of the ground with a slicing cut upwards, and pressed on the lever. A giant flame wave travel towards Void, but was disperse when he touched it with his finger.

"What just happen?"

"I guess this is the first time you guys are seeing this."

The knights and Bastion look at Lumia wondering what happen. Expecting her to answer, but instead it was his wife, Freveon, who answer.

"That's his negate ability. As the name indicates it can negate anything he wants. From magic to abilities and poison, paralyze, etc. But its range is limited to his hands."

"I'm guessing Void told you that."

"Yep, there's more but it's a lot to say. So if anyone has questions we can discuss it another time."

"Yes ma'am."

Freveon smile at them before looking back at the fight. Vain was know clad in a dark metal armor and his devour arm was release, with Zec flying above him. All the knights start asking questions again and Luvia was the one to explain what was going on now. She explain his arm to them and who Zec is before talking about his armor.

"The armor is created from the same thing as his hand. But it doesn't devour everything that touch it. What it does is absorb all damage that Vain would take and convert it into energy. So once he equips it, he basically can't get hurt."

"But using it against Void makes little difference. If anything, Vain has to be more careful."

Lumia join in after Luvia finish explaining and they started wondering why. Lumia was getting a little tired of talking and pointed at the scene.

"You guys are train warriors, observe and figure it out. Otherwise it would be hard for you guys on a real battlefield."

So all the knights watch closely as Void slowly walk towards Vain. Vain on the other hand rushed in towards Void and swung his sword at him. Void caught it with two fingers, grab Vain's neck, and slam him into the ground. Blasting dirt up and causing the ground to shake. When the dirt settle, Vain's armor disappear, he was still pinned to the ground, and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't break free.

"Had enough?"

"Tch, you wish!"

"Hey Darling! Calm down! You need to relax and try not to be reckless!"

Vain looked at Luvia, who smile and wave at him. Vain took a deep breath, before letting it out, kicking Void in the stomach, and sending him back. Void landed on his feet as he slid back along the ground. Once he stop, Vain got up, his shadow stretch up out of the ground, wrapping around him, and form his dark armor. Void walked over to Vain and once he was in range Vain swung his sword. Only to be block again, but when Void struck at Vain it was block by his sword. They exchange blows one after another, either blocking or dodging each other. They were evenly match and everyone was surprise. They look at Luvia, amaze that her words made that much of a difference.

"Hm... you certainly gotten better."

"Hmph, no s**t. I can't let you have the lead forever."

"I see, though it was with a little help."

Void look at Luvia before looking back at Vain.

"Good to see you two still get along really well and that she can calm your hot head."

"Shut up."

Vain blush as he struck Void with the sharp edge of his sword. Void smack his back against the barrier and landed on the ground.

Vain look at Luvia with a big grin before saying, "Hell yeah! I manage to hit Void. Did you see that Luvia?"

She giggle and wave at him shouting back, "Yes, I saw it! Good job Darling!"

Void stood back up on his feet, picked up his glasses, put them back on, and dusts himself off while smiling at Vain.

"Not bad, not bad. You at least manage to hit me compare to last spar, but not enough to scratch me."

Everyone look at Void and notice his clothes were perfectly fine. Even after getting struck by a sword there was no cut. Four chains crawled out of Void's coat and hover around him.

"This is the reason why. Magic chains mixed into my clothes. You want to cut through me then I hope you can cut through some magic enhance steel chains."

"No point in cutting it. When I can just eat it!"

They both got ready to rush each other again, but before they could Luvia ran in between them. Veto and Luvia had both disperse their barrier so she could step in before it got out of hand. The tension around them died down and Vain sheath his sword while Void's chain disappear back into his clothes. Zec return through his magic portal with all the swords, that were summon, disappearing.
